Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Jeet,

I hope everything is good well with you. It's been a long time since we last talked, so I thought I'd write to you about an event I organise to celebrate this occassion with all the classmates from the college.

First of all, I like to talked you about the get to gather i have decided and some theme code and for the fun I have decided a dance competition among the classmates.

In addition to this, I think its been long time to meet all the friends and classmates so if I arrange an event all the people can come and if we can recoonect with each other again. However, after the college we are not in contact with all the classmates so its time to celebrate the 10 years of graduating.

Apart from this, I need your help regarding the invitation to the all the classmates and for the few arrangements and set up.

Anyway, I should wrap up now. I hope to hear from you soon. Please give my regards to your family.

Take care,

Pranjal

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you propose a reunion with a dance competition, explain that it would let former classmates reconnect, and ask Jeet to help with invitations and arrangements. The purpose is clear and relevant throughout. However, some parts are less fully explained than others. The event description is difficult to picture because the “theme” and “dance competition” are mentioned without saying what the overall celebration would involve. Likewise, “a few arrangements and set up” does not specify which tasks you want Jeet to take on. Develop these details—for example, suggest a venue or theme and name particular jobs—so the reader understands the plan and the help you need more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a recognisable structure, moving from a friendly opening to the event idea, reasons, a request for help, and a suitable closing. Paragraphing helps separate these functions, and phrases such as “First of all,” “In addition to this,” and “Apart from this” signal progression. At times, however, the links feel mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For instance, the sentence beginning “so if I arrange an event” combines the wish to meet with the possibility of everyone attending, but the connection is awkward. Use simpler, more direct transitions and make each paragraph focus on one point. Clearer references to the event and the requested tasks would also improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to a reunion, including “classmates,” “celebrate,” “dance competition,” “invitation,” and “arrangements,” so the main message can be understood. There is some variety in how you describe the purpose, particularly the idea of reconnecting after college. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “occassion,” “recoonect,” and “get to gather” make the letter less polished, while “theme code” is unclear. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “everything is good well” and “celebrate this anniversary.” Check spelling and learn common collocations for organising events. More precise terms for the celebration and the specific help required would make your vocabulary more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the letter includes a range of functions: asking about the reader, explaining a reason, and making a request. The closing sentences are generally controlled. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “I like to talked you” should use a base verb after “to,” and “I have decided a dance competition” needs a grammatical structure such as “I have decided to organise a dance competition.” In “if I arrange an event all the people can come,” punctuation or a linking word is needed to separate the clauses. Review verb patterns and build longer sentences carefully so that your ideas remain clear.
