Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Navjot,
it is shockingly ten years that we completed our college. The main reason of this letter is to re-union for anniversary party.
Actually, I am planning to organise a celebration event for all of our classmates and friends. Tipicially, it is a fun-full singing and dancing party near our college (sweet point )where we all use to spend time after college.
According to myself this would be best way to celebrate in a way everyone like to do these things. Also, we will setup some kind of games such as beer tasting, cards and reel making. This way we will be able to remember old memorise.
During all this time kamal I need you're little help, would you please send me all the contact numbers or email address of all classmates. Also, it would be great if you help me to send invitation to everyone because it is a huge list of people.
Best regards,
subeg singh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you propose a reunion party near the college, explain that singing, dancing and games could help classmates reconnect and remember the past, and ask Navjot for contact details and help sending invitations. The purpose is clear and the ideas are relevant. However, some parts are less fully explained: for example, you could say more about why the college location would be meaningful or how the activities would suit the group. The request for help is specific, but the opening phrase “The main reason of this letter is to re-union for anniversary party” makes your purpose less clear than it could be. A more direct opening and a little more development of the reasons would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the anniversary, describes the proposed event, gives reasons for it, and ends with a practical request. Paragraph breaks help the reader follow these stages, and linking phrases such as “Also” and “This way” show how the ideas relate. Some connections are less clear or slightly mechanical, however. “According to myself” does not naturally introduce your opinion, while “During all this time kamal” interrupts the transition into your request and makes the reference unclear. The parenthetical “(sweet point)” also distracts from the description. Use straightforward transitions and make references to people and ideas explicit to improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to a reunion, including “celebration event,” “singing and dancing party,” “games,” and “invitation,” so the reader can understand the main plan. There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “remember old memorise,” but several word choices, collocations and spellings are inaccurate or unnatural. Examples include “shockingly ten years,” “fun-full,” “Tipicially,” “sweet point,” and “re-union.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow, particularly in the opening. Aim for familiar, accurate phrases such as “It’s hard to believe it has been ten years” and “a fun evening,” and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would make the letter sound more natural and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, for example, “I am planning to organise a celebration event” and the request beginning “would you please send me…”. The overall message remains understandable, but grammatical errors occur across the letter and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “it is shockingly ten years that we completed our college,” “everyone like to do these things,” and “I need you're little help.” There are also problems with articles, verb forms and sentence punctuation, as in “best way” and the comma splice before “would you please.” Practise building accurate sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, possessives and punctuation before sending the letter.
