Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Gurdeep,
I hope you are doing well. I want to let you know i would like to organise an event of our classmates who studied with me in college. I am planning to organise this events in Payal Palace which is very popular in my hometown. Moreover, i want to organise this event because i missed a lot of them when i am free from my work along with i want to get relief from work because these days everyone is busy with our work due to more competition in every field. If anyone will visit this events, it would be more beneficial for them to take a break from our work. In addition to it, i will make a plan to horible party so everyone will need to wear masks which will create some fun between them. I will need some people to organise this party because i do not have contacts details of all classmates if you will inform them about this celebration, it will be more beneficial for me.
I hope everyone will visit this events and could let me know who would be interested in attending this events.
Yours loveingly,
Gagn

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the main purpose of the letter and include all three requested points: you propose a celebration at Payal Palace, explain that it would let classmates reconnect and take a break from work, and ask your friend to contact classmates. These are relevant ideas, but some are not fully clear or developed. For example, “organise an event” does not specify the kind of celebration until the later mention of a party, and the mask idea is difficult to understand as written. Explain more clearly what guests would do and why this format suits the anniversary. Your request for help is also quite general; specify practical tasks such as sharing invitations, collecting responses, or helping arrange the venue. The letter is on task, but its purpose and details need clearer development.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The letter follows a broadly sensible order: it introduces the reunion, gives reasons for it, asks for help, and closes by asking who will attend. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “In addition to it” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the different purposes are not clearly separated. Some links are also repetitive or do not show the relationship between ideas clearly, and references such as “this events” and “them” make it harder to follow exactly what is meant. Use separate paragraphs for the event and reasons, the help you need, and the closing. Choose simpler, more precise transitions and make each sentence connect clearly to the one before it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the basic plan, including “celebration,” “classmates,” “contacts,” and “attending.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning unclear. “Horible party” appears to be an attempt to describe a themed or costume party, while “take relief from work” is not a natural way to express the idea of taking a break. “More beneficial” is also repeated where a more direct expression would be clearer. Check spelling and choose phrases that precisely describe the event and the help you need. A wider set of natural expressions for inviting people, arranging a reunion, and confirming attendance would make the letter more fluent and appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer sentences with reasons, using forms such as “because” and “if.” However, the longer structures are often faulty, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and plurals can make the reader pause. For example, “when i am free from my work” does not clearly express the intended time, and “If anyone will visit this events” has an incorrect conditional form and plural agreement. Capitalisation is also inconsistent, as in “i.” Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea at a time, then add a reason or condition. For instance, use a present-tense condition after “if” and check that demonstratives and nouns agree in number. More reliable control of these patterns would improve clarity.
