Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address the main purpose by proposing a class reunion at the beach, explaining that it could strengthen bonds and let classmates share their achievements, and asking Samantha for financial and practical support. However, the response only partially fulfils the task: the event is described briefly, and the reasons are not developed beyond keeping memories and bonding. The request for help is also somewhat unclear, particularly “your leadership skill” and “your more ideas.” The opening says it has been a year since a small reunion, which does not clearly connect to the stated ten-year college anniversary. Make the anniversary explicit, explain why this format suits the group, and specify the tasks you want your friend to take on.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a basic, recognisable structure: it introduces the idea, describes the proposed celebration, and then asks for help. Paragraphing helps separate these functions, and phrases such as “also” and “not only…but” attempt to connect related points. However, progression within sentences is sometimes difficult to follow. For example, the beach plan, team building, bonding, memories, and achievements are crowded into one sentence, while the final paragraph combines several requests without a clear order. The opening also shifts abruptly from introducing yourself to mentioning a previous reunion. Use shorter, more clearly sequenced sentences and organise the requests into specific actions to make the letter easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general idea, including “reunion,” “team building,” “achievements,” “decoration,” and “games.” There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “the bond that we share.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or awkward, which makes some meanings less clear: “keep our memories more deeper,” “ex-president of our classroom,” and “share some of your experience” do not sound natural in this context. Spelling and word-form errors such as “geaduate” and “business Man” also reduce control. Build a more reliable range of phrases for planning events and making requests, and check spelling and natural word combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, and the reader can generally identify the main message. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the wording difficult to interpret. For example, “I am Jims Bryan C. Dorog your classmate” needs clearer punctuation and sentence construction, while “where going on a beach” does not form a correct clause. In “I need your support … for us to held,” the verb pattern is also faulty. The long sentence beginning “The plan is” joins several ideas without clear grammatical links. Practise accurate request structures and divide complex ideas into shorter sentences, checking articles and verb forms.
