Student answer (Band 6.0)
Hi my dear friends
I hope you all are doing well.
By this letter I would like to inform you that I am planning to celebrate my ten year anniversary with all of you.
I want to organise a late night party with boonfire due to this winter weather there we will enjoy the delicious food and drinks.I planning to do some dance performace which we were representing in annual functions in our college.
We all know that we had completed our university and unluckily we never get an opportunity to meet agian. Therefore, this event help us to recal our memories by seeing the photographs of our college and also we can get chance to enjoy the happiness as similar as we did in the past days.
I will not able to do all the tasks by myself so I requesting to all fo you please help me to organise this event such as firstly, if you have our old photographs then send me as soon as possibly, suggest me some food items and Raman and Aaman you both will try to come first so that we can decorate the hall together.
I believe we will enjoy this event with full of happiness and it would create a special place in everyones heart.
Your lovingly
Abhi

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you propose a late-night party with a bonfire, explain that it would help classmates reconnect and revisit college memories, and request photographs, food suggestions, and help decorating. These details make the purpose clear and relevant. The explanation of why this format would be enjoyable is less fully developed: for example, you mention winter weather and past performances, but could explain more specifically how these activities would bring the group together. The letter is also addressed to “friends” collectively, although the task asks you to write to one college friend. Use a single recipient and a suitable opening and closing to make the communication more focused and natural.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The ideas follow a sensible overall order: you introduce the anniversary, describe the proposed event, explain its value, and then ask for help. This gives the letter a clear progression, and phrases such as “Therefore” and “so that” help show relationships between ideas. The organisation is not always easy to follow, however, because several points are crowded into long sentences, with little paragraph separation. For instance, the requests for photographs, food suggestions, and early arrival would be clearer as separate, well-punctuated sentences. Some linking is also mechanical or unclear, such as “By this letter” and “as similar as we did.” Use distinct paragraphs for the event, its purpose, and the practical requests.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “anniversary,” “organise,” “photographs,” and “decorate.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “annual functions” and “special place in everyone’s heart.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “boonfire,” “performace,” “agian,” and “recal” should be corrected, while “celebrate my ten year anniversary” is less accurate than referring to the college anniversary. Some combinations sound unnatural, including “with full of happiness” and “as similar as we did.” Choose familiar, accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make the message smoother without requiring more complicated vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause (“so that we can decorate the hall together”) and a conditional request (“if you have our old photographs”). The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the letter. Examples include “I planning” instead of “I am planning,” “this event help” instead of “this event will help,” and “I will not able” instead of “I will not be able.” There are also errors in sentence boundaries and punctuation, such as joining sentences after “drinks” and “again” without appropriate spacing or punctuation. Review auxiliary verbs, tense consistency, and sentence boundaries, then proofread each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
