Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points in the task: you propose a reunion in the college garden followed by dinner, explain that it would let classmates reconnect and remember their college days, and ask Harman to help with decoration, contacts, and the menu. These details make the purpose clear and the tone is appropriately friendly. The explanation of why this format would be enjoyable is relevant, but it is brief; for example, you could explain what the games or shared meal would add to the reunion. The request for help is more specific and developed. To strengthen the letter further, make the reason for choosing this particular event clearer and close with a more natural, direct invitation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a recognisable structure, with an opening, a paragraph describing the event, a paragraph requesting help, and a closing. The ideas generally progress from the reason for writing to the arrangements, and phrases such as “Along with this” and “also” help connect details. However, some sentences contain several ideas joined together, particularly the long paragraph beginning “I want that all we should meet,” so the progression can feel crowded. The opening also moves quickly from the passage of time to the event plan. Use clearer sentence boundaries and organise the event details, reasons, and requests in a more deliberate sequence. This would make the overall organisation more fluent and reduce the occasional mechanical linking.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main arrangements, including “get together,” “decoration,” “contact details,” and “quality time.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “memorizing old days,” although this is not a natural collocation in this context. Several word-choice and spelling errors reduce precision, including “proffesors,” “class mate,” and “intouch”; “passed out college” is also an inaccurate expression for graduating. The reader can usually understand your meaning, but these noticeable errors keep the vocabulary from being consistently clear and natural. Build accuracy by learning common collocations for reunions and invitations, and check spelling and word forms before sending the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because” and a request introduced by “as.” The main message remains understandable, but grammatical errors occur across the letter and sometimes make sentences difficult to follow. For example, “It has been a long a long time we passed out college” lacks a suitable clause structure, while “I hope you will be able to to join me” repeats the infinitive marker. There are also problems with tense, articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “we didnt met together.” Practise forming accurate past and present-perfect sentences, and divide long sentences into shorter units. Careful proofreading for punctuation and repeated words would improve control.
