Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Simar,

I hope everything is going well with you. I am writting this letter to share my idea of celebrating my upcoming anniversary. As you may know, next month on 10th, it will be 10 years since i have left my college. I am planning to celebrate this special anniversary with all my friends and classmates from college. Although I understand it can be hard for everyone to come as everyone is busy in their own lifes. However, it will be a chance to remember all the good memories we shared in past and to create more of them.

However, i don't have contacts for most of them as we all have moved to different cities to accomplish our dreams, I would appreciate if you can try to find a way of contact. I'm planning to cleberate it at your grandma's villa as it is spacious and there will be no interuptions.

Let me know what you think about this and i am open to any ideas if you have. Looking for to hearing form you soon. Take care!

Best wishes,

Sanjna

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address the main purpose and include relevant details: you propose a reunion, explain that it would revive shared memories, and ask Simar to help contact former classmates. The venue, her grandmother’s villa, is also specified. However, the celebration itself is not fully described: the reader is not told what activities or arrangements the event would include. The request for help is also somewhat limited to finding contacts, with little detail about other organising tasks or how Simar could assist. Develop these points—for example, suggest a meal or slideshow and ask for help inviting classmates or arranging refreshments—to make each part of the task equally clear and complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter follows a generally understandable order: you introduce the anniversary, explain the reason for celebrating, then mention the venue and ask for help. The greeting and closing suit the informal audience. However, the organisation is compressed into one long paragraph, and the repeated use of “However” does not clearly show the relationship between ideas. The sentence beginning “Although I understand…” is followed by a separate “However” clause, which makes the progression awkward. Use distinct paragraphs for the event idea, its benefits, and the help needed, and connect them with more precise transitions. This would make the letter’s progression clearer and reduce the sense of ideas being added abruptly.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for an informal letter, including relevant expressions such as “special anniversary,” “good memories,” and “spacious.” These communicate the main ideas, and the reader can understand your intended meaning. Some spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy, including “writting,” “lifes,” “cleberate,” “interuptions,” and “form.” There are also less natural phrases such as “a way of contact” and “Looking for to hearing.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, such as “find their contact details” and “I look forward to hearing from you.” More precise vocabulary for the event and its activities would also help you describe the plan more fully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including the conditional idea “it can be hard for everyone to come” and the reason clause “as we all have moved to different cities.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “next month on 10th, it will be 10 years since i have left” needs a more suitable tense and article, such as “on the 10th, it will be ten years since I left college.” The sentence beginning “Although I understand…” is not completed as a dependent clause, and “I would appreciate if you can try” needs a more accurate conditional structure. Check capitalisation of “I,” verb forms, and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
