Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Shiva,
I hope you are doing well, Yesterday we talked about the college memories and November 1st is the day when I completed my graduation almost ten years. In order to celebrate this event I planned a party at grand hotel. Moreover, I have invited all my friends and our classmates so that we can enjoy every moment of the event. there are plenty of intersting games which I have planned and allows everyone to participate so nobody gets bored.I have decided to celebrate this way because its almost ten years that all friends and classmates come together on single day and allows me to increase my social bonding.
In order to make this event successful i need your help and guidance because alone i cannot manage whole things. As I need to choose a dress which suits me on that day, food that would be served and how guests should arrive at the location as you know some of my classmates are from abroad.
Best regards,
Jatin

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you propose a party at a hotel, explain that it would bring classmates together and strengthen social bonds, and ask for help with planning. The purpose and friendly tone are clear. The event description is relevant, but some ideas are only briefly developed: for example, you mention “interesting games” without explaining what kind or how they would involve everyone. Your request for help also lists choices about clothing, food and travel, but could be more specific about what you want your friend to do. To strengthen the letter, add a little detail about the celebration and make the requested help more direct.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening and event proposal are followed by reasons for the celebration and a paragraph requesting help, then an appropriate sign-off. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “so that” and “because” help show relationships between ideas. However, the first paragraph contains several points in one long sequence, and the transition from the event plan to the reason for choosing it is somewhat abrupt. Some connections are also unclear, particularly the sentence about games and participation. Use paragraphing to separate the proposal, its benefits and the practical request, and make links between sentences more precise rather than relying mainly on basic connectors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “celebrate,” “participate,” “social bonding” and “guidance.” There is some attempt to use topic-related language, and the reader can understand the intended event and request. However, several choices and combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “at grand hotel,” “increase my social bonding” and “manage whole things.” Spelling and word-form slips, including “intersting,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural collocations and precise expressions, such as describing a reunion party at a hotel and asking for help coordinating the arrangements. This would make the letter sound more fluent and appropriately informal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, using clauses with “because,” “so that” and “as,” and the main message remains understandable. However, some errors in sentence boundaries, verb forms and sentence construction make parts less controlled. For example, “I hope you are doing well, Yesterday…” joins two sentences with a comma, while “games which I have planned and allows everyone” has an agreement problem. There are also missing articles and inconsistent capitalisation, as in “at grand hotel” and “i need.” Check each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and use full stops to separate complete thoughts. More accurate control of these patterns would improve readability.
