Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Friends,
I am writting this letter regarding a get-to-gather night for our collage batchmates. It's been a while we haven't been seen each other personally, it would be a good opportunity to recall our collage time sitting next to each others.
For this event, I planned some fun activties like role play of our faculties, recalling best moments during our college life and discuss how our collage education helped us in our career; basically sharinng our experience of college days. Needless to say, the event would be followed by a dinner.
As college is the foundational stone of our career, it would be interesting to learn what is the impacted of it, in our lives. All these activities will remind us how hard we prepare for our bright future and how it is paid of.
So to make this happen, I need some vaulentiers. I need help to reserve the place where we can have a good space and good food, as I left the city for quite a long time, I would recommend someone who is local could take the responsibility for hunting a event place.
Your Faithfully,
Paone

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the main purpose and include the three requested elements: a reunion with dinner, reasons for meeting, and a request for help finding a venue. The activities—such as role-playing lecturers and sharing career experiences—make the proposed celebration reasonably clear. However, the explanation of why this format would be enjoyable is brief, and the practical request is not fully developed: you mention needing volunteers and a local person to find a place, but do not specify how your friend could help or suggest a date or next step. The opening “Dear Friends” also addresses a group rather than the one college friend specified. Develop the rationale and make the request more direct and personal.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it introduces the reunion, describes activities, explains their significance, and ends with the help needed. Paragraphing supports this progression, and links such as “For this event,” “As,” and “So” help connect the ideas. This organisation is a strength. Some connections are less smooth, however: the shift from the activities to the claim about college being foundational is abrupt, and the final sentence combines several requests and explanations, making it harder to follow. The repeated references to “college” also make the flow somewhat repetitive. Use clearer links between the event format and its benefits, and divide the final request into shorter, more focused sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to a reunion, including “role play,” “recalling best moments,” “career,” and “responsibility,” so the reader can understand the event and the help required. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “foundational stone” and “bright future,” though these are not natural collocations in this context. Noticeable spelling and word-choice errors include “writting,” “get-to-gather,” “collage,” “activties,” and “vaulentiers”; these reduce accuracy and can briefly distract the reader. Some phrases are also awkward, such as “hunting a event place.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing conventional expressions such as “college reunion,” “volunteers,” and “find a suitable venue.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “As college is…” and a conditional-style request about someone local taking responsibility. The main message remains understandable, but errors occur in verb forms, sentence construction, articles, and agreement. For example, “we haven't been seen each other” should be “we haven't seen each other,” while “how hard we prepare” needs a past form such as “prepared.” The sentence beginning “It's been a while” is also not formed correctly, and “the impacted of it” has an incorrect grammatical form. The final sentence is a run-on, with several clauses joined by commas. Practise accurate clause patterns and verb forms, and use full stops to separate the venue request from its explanation.
