Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mihir,
I hope this letter finds you in a radiant health and the best of spirits. Next month, it will be 10 years of our graduation and I think we should celebrate this milstone by hosting a party. I am writing this letter, for your help to organise this event.
I am not in the touch with all of our classmates but I know you are. Hence, can you please send the invitation through mail and ask them to confirm their rsvps. I am also attching the link for the invitation. I am thinking for a costume party. If you remember Satish who was our classmate, he will be handling Dj. We are also looking for games and photo booth.
Honestly, it has been more than 8 year that we have meet . So , it will be great if we throw this party. We will be able to spend some good times and we will re-create our memories as well.
I need a favour fome you, we tried to book photographer. Unfortunately, we were unable. Can you please find a good photographer?
I am eagarly waiting to see you.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you propose a costume party, explain that it would let classmates reconnect and recreate memories, and ask Mihir to invite people and find a photographer. These are relevant, practical details, and the purpose of the letter is clear. However, the reasons for choosing this type of celebration are less developed than the requests for help; for example, you could explain why a costume theme would be especially enjoyable for this group. The event details are also somewhat unclear: the invitation link is mentioned, but it is not explained how it will be used, and the games and photo booth are listed without saying who will arrange them. Clarifying these points would make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter follows a generally sensible order: you introduce the anniversary, discuss invitations and party plans, explain the value of meeting again, and finish with a specific request. Paragraphing helps distinguish these purposes, and the closing is appropriate. Some links between ideas feel mechanical or unclear, however. “Hence” introduces the invitation request, while “Honestly” shifts to the reason for celebrating without a smooth connection. The sentence about Satish handling the DJ is also placed among several separate planning details, making the arrangements feel list-like. Use clearer transitions and group related information—for example, put all event activities together, then explain the social benefits and finish with the help you need.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for a friendly planning letter, including relevant terms such as “costume party,” “invitation,” “photographer,” and “re-create our memories.” The tone is warm and the message remains understandable despite some spelling and word-choice errors. A few expressions are unnatural or imprecise, such as “radiant a health,” “in the touch,” and “handling Dj”; these reduce the naturalness of the letter. There are also misspellings in “milstone,” “attching,” and “eagarly.” Proofreading and choosing more idiomatic collocations would improve control. For instance, say “in good health,” “in touch with,” and “be the DJ,” and use “anniversary” rather than the less precise “milestone” in this context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including “If you remember Satish…” and “Unfortunately, we were unable.” The main message is usually clear, but some grammatical errors occur in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “it has been more than 8 year that we have meet,” which needs a plural noun and a correct present-perfect form, and “I am thinking for a costume party,” where the construction is not grammatical. Article and preposition choices also need attention in “in the touch with all of our classmates.” Punctuation spacing is inconsistent, as in “meet . So ,”. Review verb patterns and tense formation, and proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation to make your varied structures more accurate.
