Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Arun,
I hope this letter finds you and your family well. Sorry for not being in touch from long time.
Today, I would like you to inform about the reunion on the ocassion of 10th anniversary to our graduation. It will be taking place on fourthcoming saturday, hope you are free on that day.
I am planing it to be a small get together. We will enjoy playing cards and mimicing our professers. also, there will be a slide show of our past memories, If you would like can share some picture we will add them in that. Other than that there are some games available at nearest arcade station we can enjoy them also as we did in our college times.
Moreover, it will be very helpfull and time saving to me if you help me in making invitation list of other student and arranging some t-shirts for them as a gift .
I will be waiting to hear from you.
Your lovingly
Tushar

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address all three requested points: you propose a small reunion, give reasons such as playing cards and revisiting college memories, and ask Arun to help with the invitation list and T-shirts. The purpose is clear, but some ideas are only briefly explained. For example, you mention a slideshow and arcade games without explaining how these would make the anniversary especially enjoyable for the group. The date is also vague (“fourthcoming saturday”), and the letter does not clearly confirm the venue or invite Arun in a direct, natural way. Develop the reason for choosing this format and make the practical details and request more explicit so the reader can readily respond.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall shape: an opening, a paragraph describing the celebration, a request for help, and a closing. This makes the main information easy to locate, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” help signal the move to your request. The progression is generally logical, though some connections within the event paragraph are less smooth: the slideshow, arcade games, and shared photographs are added in quick succession. The sentence beginning “If you would like” also leaves the reference unclear. Group related activities together and use clearer links between the plan and its benefits. A conventional sign-off and consistent punctuation would make the letter feel more polished.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to a reunion, including “get together,” “slide show,” “past memories,” and “invitation list,” so the reader can understand the plan. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “mimicing our professers.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “ocassion,” “planing,” “helpfull,” and “nearest arcade station.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “inform about the reunion” and “fourthcoming saturday.” These choices sometimes make the message less fluent, even though its general meaning remains clear. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for invitations, dates, and organising events.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You communicate the main ideas using a mixture of short statements and longer sentences, including a conditional request: “if you help me in making invitation list.” However, control is uneven, and several sentence patterns need correction. For example, “Sorry for not being in touch from long time” needs an article and a more suitable preposition; “I am planing it to be” has an incorrect verb construction; and “If you would like can share” is missing a subject. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly after “also” and before “If.” Practise complete clause structures, articles, and prepositions, then proofread each sentence to ensure it has a clear subject and verb.
