Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Amit,
I hope you're in the pink of your health. Its been a decade, we all left college and never meet again. I am planning a reunion of all our college classmates. For which I'll surely need your help as I'm not in touch with others except you. As per my plan, In this gathering we might play some indoor games and gossip for sure, apart from that we all can go for dinner and movie if possible!
According to me it'll be perfect way to celebrate our friendship, beside this the location which I decided to meet is XCU mall which consists almost everything. The manager in XCU mall is also well known to me, who will surely try to make our party unforgettable, by his services and co-operation. In fact we do not have to travel much to reach there as it is in downtown only.
I barely have anyone's contact number, but I think you'll indeed have their contact number. I hope you would contact them, so that we can get together and spend great time at reunion. You can also make WhatsApp group for more clarity.
I'll love to hear back from you.
With love,
Anmol

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you propose a reunion with games, conversation, dinner and possibly a movie; explain that it would celebrate your friendship and be convenient at XCU Mall; and ask Amit to contact classmates and create a WhatsApp group. The purpose and friendly tone are clear. Some ideas, however, are less fully developed than others. For example, the celebration plan lists several activities without explaining how the event might be arranged, and the reason that the mall is suitable is mostly limited to its location and the manager’s help. Add a little more detail about the event format and why it would appeal to the group, while keeping the request for help specific.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall progression: you introduce the reunion, explain the venue and its advantages, then ask Amit to contact people before closing warmly. Paragraphing supports these stages, and links such as “According to me” and “In fact” help connect ideas. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some flexibility, but a few connections feel mechanical or unclear. “For which” begins a fragment-like continuation, while “beside this” does not clearly express the relationship between the celebration and the venue. The first paragraph also packs several activities into one long sentence. Use more natural transitions and divide the plan into clearer sentences to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for a friendly reunion letter, including “reunion,” “unforgettable,” “co-operation,” and “get together.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the informal register is generally appropriate. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “in the pink of your health,” but this is not the natural form of the idiom; “in the pink of health” is more usual. Some other phrases are awkward or imprecise, including “never meet again,” “perfect way,” and “for more clarity.” Aim for natural collocations and precise wording rather than adding elaborate expressions. For example, describe the classmates as having “lost touch” and say the group chat would help everyone “coordinate the arrangements.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the reason clause in “as I'm not in touch with others” and the relative clause describing the manager. The message remains understandable, but some errors in tense, sentence construction, articles and punctuation prevent consistently accurate control. For example, “Its been a decade, we all left college and never meet again” combines clauses awkwardly and shifts tense; “It’s been ten years since we left college, and we haven’t met since” would be clearer. “It'll be perfect way” needs an article, and “In this gathering” should not have an unnecessary capital after the comma. Check sentence boundaries and use consistent present-perfect forms for events continuing up to now.
