Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Reni,

I hope you are doing well. It's hard to believe it's been ten years since we all graduated, and lately I can not stop thinking about the old gang. I am writing to suggest we finally organize a proper reunion and I would like to celebrate this special occasion with all our friends and classmates from collage.

Firstly, now we all are too busy in our daily life but I think that we can enjoy that time with each other, so we can organize party at my home. From my point of view a little party is enough since I just want to invite our group. During the party, we'll have some homemade dishes and some drinks. Additionally, I was thinking of organizing one game bettle between our two groups.

I remember that our some friends are moving Canada this year, after that we can hardly meet each other. So that, before they leave this is the perfect chance to catch up with friends.

I really like if you can help me in that plan and we can arrage a beautiful get together party for our friends and classmate. it mean a lot to me.

Kind Regards,

Krushi Patel.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you propose a reunion at your home, explain that friends who are moving to Canada may soon be harder to meet, and ask Reni to help organise the gathering. The personal tone and reference to your shared college years suit a letter to a friend. However, some parts are less fully developed than others. The celebration is described as a small party with food, drinks and a game, but the help you need from Reni remains vague: specify tasks such as contacting classmates, choosing a date or arranging food. The reason for celebrating is relevant, though you could explain more clearly why a home party is especially suitable for reconnecting.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall shape: an opening that introduces the reunion, paragraphs about the event and the reason for it, and a closing request. This makes the main purpose easy to follow. You also use basic signposting such as “Firstly,” “Additionally,” and “So that.” At times, however, the links feel mechanical or unclear. “So that” does not connect the preceding idea naturally, and the paragraph about friends moving to Canada would flow better if it explicitly linked their departure to the proposed date or plan. Keep each paragraph focused on one task point, and use clearer transitions and references so the reader can follow how the details fit together.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the reunion idea and maintain a friendly tone, including phrases such as “proper reunion,” “catch up with friends,” and “homemade dishes.” There are also attempts to use more specific language, such as “celebrate this special occasion.” However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “collage” for “college,” “bettle” for “battle,” and “arr age” (written as “arrage”) for “arrange.” Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “moving Canada” and “beautiful get together party.” Choose familiar collocations carefully and proofread spelling; more precise wording for the activities and arrangements would make the letter sound more natural and polished.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple sentences and longer clauses, for example, “I am writing to suggest we finally organize a proper reunion” and the sentence explaining that friends may soon leave. The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence structure, articles, agreement and punctuation. Examples include “now we all are too busy in our daily life,” “organize party,” and “I really like if you can help me”; these need more natural word order, an article, and a suitable conditional form. “It mean a lot to me” also has a subject–verb agreement error. Practise accurate sentence patterns such as “I’d really appreciate it if you could help” and check articles, verb forms and sentence openings.
