Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover the three requested points: you propose a home gathering, explain that it would let former classmates spend time together after busy working lives, and ask about a suitable day and time. These ideas are relevant, but some are only partly developed. For example, “a small kitty party” and games give a basic picture of the event, while the request for help is less clear: asking everyone which day suits them is useful, but you do not specify what practical tasks you need a friend to take on. The opening also addresses “Friends” rather than one college friend, as the task requests. Clarify the event plan and make a direct, specific request for assistance.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a generally understandable order: you introduce the anniversary, describe the proposed gathering, explain its purpose, and finish by asking about availability. Paragraph breaks help separate these points, and phrases such as “because” show some links between ideas. However, the progression within the event paragraph is crowded: planning, family help, food, and several activities are combined in one long sentence. The reason for celebrating comes after this, so the connection between the event and its purpose could be made more smoothly. Some references are also unclear, particularly “with yours.” Use shorter, clearly focused paragraphs and link each idea explicitly to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the basic plan, including “anniversary,” “activities,” “quality of time,” and “get together.” However, the range is limited and several spelling or word-choice errors make the letter less natural, such as “kity party,” “freiends,” “carrier,” and “hectice.” Some phrases are also awkward or imprecise: “celebrate tenth anniversary with yours” and “do a lot of fun” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Choose familiar, accurate expressions rather than attempting uncertain wording—for example, “celebrate our tenth college reunion” and “have fun together.” Proofreading spelling and collocations would make your message clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a reason clause with “because” and a relative clause in “where we all … meet together.” This shows some range, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “I hope you all are doing well being,” “I left college life before ten years ago,” and “everyone busy to build their carrier,” where sentence structure, tense, or missing verb forms affect clarity. The final request, “which day and time is best … and staying one night,” also combines structures awkwardly. Practise forming complete clauses and keeping verb forms consistent; for instance, “It has been ten years since we left college” is a clearer model.
