Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Rajvi,
I hope you are doing well. It's been almost a decade since we last talk.
I am writing to invite you in invite in a reunion anniversary including all our friends and classmates. I am planning a night event which includes a dinner, snacks, indoor games and so much.
I believe this will be a geed celebration because, games help us to improve our internal bond and during the dinner we can talk about our core memories related to college and all other fun activities. In addition, we may know about our current personal and professional lives and help each other in some aspect of their life.
I need your help to organize this event better. I am not in contact of all the classmates. Therefore, I would like you to invite the rest of people in this event.
Thank you so much for your time and efforts. I will be happy if you invite our other friends. See you soon.
Best wishes,
Riya Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you propose a reunion dinner with snacks and indoor games, explain that it could strengthen friendships and allow classmates to catch up, and ask Rajvi to contact classmates you cannot reach. These details make the purpose clear and relevant. The explanation of why the event would be enjoyable is reasonably developed, but the event itself and the help required could be more specific—for example, you could suggest a venue or date and ask Rajvi to help collect responses or coordinate arrangements. The invitation is also phrased awkwardly, so the reader may not immediately understand whether you are inviting Rajvi or asking her to organise the reunion. More precise development would make the letter feel more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a sensible sequence: greeting and context, the proposed event, reasons for it, and a request for help. Paragraph breaks support this progression, and linking expressions such as “In addition” and “Therefore” help connect ideas. The closing is appropriate for a friendly letter. Some connections are less smooth, however: “I am writing to invite you in invite in a reunion anniversary” interrupts the flow, and the final two sentences repeat the request for Rajvi to invite friends. You could make the organisation more effective by stating the invitation clearly once, then ending with a distinct next step, such as asking Rajvi to confirm whether she can help.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “reunion,” “indoor games,” “personal and professional lives,” and “organize.” There are also attempts to express less basic ideas, such as strengthening the group’s bond and recalling college memories. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “invite in invite in,” “geed celebration,” “internal bond,” and “core memories related to college.” These errors make parts of the letter less clear and limit the precision of your vocabulary. Aim for natural phrases such as “invite you to a reunion,” “a great way to celebrate,” “strengthen our friendships,” and “memories of our time at college.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple sentences and longer structures, including a reason clause with “because” and a sentence beginning “Therefore.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “since we last talk” needs a past participle (“since we last talked”), while “I am not in contact of all the classmates” has an incorrect preposition and structure (“I am not in contact with all our classmates”). The sentence beginning “I am writing to invite…” also has a faulty construction, and “help each other in some aspect of their life” has unclear agreement and reference. Practise accurate verb forms, prepositions, and pronoun agreement while keeping your useful mix of sentence types.
