Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Harjeet,
I am writing this letter to inquire you about that I am going to organised a reunion party in famous restaurant in my hometown. I am going to inviting our all old friends and teacher's.
I am going to oragnise a reunion party for all of us. I was very excited to see you all after this long period of time. I am going to organise some fun games for all guests. Alternatively, I will also display our past photographs on screen.
The main reason why I believe that It is good way to celeberate tihs event is that, It is great way to spend quality of time with each other. Due to this, we all enjoyed together and recall our past memories together.
I would need help in some kind of tasks which we are representing in our party. Firsly, I would need help in decorating the restaurant and also help in preparing some kind of dishes.Additionally, I need all contat details of our friends and create a whatsp group for all of them.
I am looking forward to see you all in the party.
Best Wishes,
Taran

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you propose a reunion party at a restaurant, explain that it would let classmates spend time together and recall memories, and ask for help with decorating, food, and contacting friends. These details make the purpose clear and relevant. The explanation of why this format would be enjoyable is somewhat general, however, and the request for help could be more specific about what you want Harjeet personally to do. The opening also says “inquire you about,” which makes the purpose less natural, though the reunion plan is still understandable. To strengthen the response, develop the reason with a concrete benefit of the games or photographs and make one or two clear, direct requests to your friend.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it introduces the reunion, describes activities, gives a reason for celebrating, and then lists practical help needed. Paragraph breaks support this progression, and linking expressions such as “Alternatively,” “Additionally,” and “Due to this” show an effort to connect ideas. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and also shows some features of stronger progression. However, a few links are mechanical or unclear: “Due to this” does not connect smoothly to the preceding reason, and the first two paragraphs repeat the plan to organise a reunion. The final request also combines several tasks in one sentence. Avoid repeating the event description and use clearer links between the reason, activities, and specific requests.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “reunion party,” “past photographs,” “decorating,” and “contact details.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce naturalness: “oragnise,” “celeberate,” “contat,” and “whatsp” are difficult to read, while “quality of time” is not the usual expression. Some phrases, such as “some kind of tasks” and “some kind of dishes,” are vague and repetitive. These issues fit a level where vocabulary is minimally adequate but errors can cause difficulty. Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing precise, familiar collocations, for example “spend quality time” and “prepare food for the guests.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes simple sentences and some attempts at longer structures, such as “The main reason why I believe…” and “Additionally, I need…”. The main message remains understandable, but the range is limited and errors occur often enough to affect clarity. For example, “I am writing this letter to inquire you about that I am going to organised” has problems with the verb pattern and verb form; “I am going to inviting” also uses the wrong form after “going to.” There are further issues with articles and sentence construction in “It is great way” and “I would need help in some kind of tasks.” Practise reliable patterns such as “I am writing to ask whether…” and “I would appreciate your help with…” before attempting longer sentences.
