Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
Your opening gives a clear opinion: you consider the idea logical and mention enjoyment and opportunities to explore interests. The first body paragraph also begins a relevant reason, explaining that hobbies can help people feel refreshed. However, the response stops before this point is developed, and it does not address the benefits of hobbies for different age groups or provide the requested supporting example. The required minimum length is not met, so the task is only minimally addressed. To improve, complete the essay with developed reasons, explain how hobbies benefit people at different life stages, and include a specific example that supports your view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introductory paragraph states your view, followed by a body paragraph introduced with “Firstly.” The link “As a result” also signals a consequence. These choices give the reader some sense of direction, but the paragraph ends mid-sentence, so the reasoning does not progress to a complete point or conclusion. The response also has no concluding paragraph, and the relationship between the two benefits in the introduction is not developed. Build each paragraph around one complete idea, use linking phrases only where they clarify the relationship, and finish with a conclusion that restates your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “hobby,” “enjoyment,” “interest,” and “refreshed,” and the meaning of your general position is understandable. However, the range is narrow because the response is very short, and several choices are unnatural or imprecise: “one favourite activity” is less direct than “a hobby,” while “opportunity to explore in their interest” does not express the intended idea naturally. There is also a spelling error in “thier.” Aim for accurate collocations and a wider range of topic vocabulary, such as terms for relaxation, skill development, social connection, and personal fulfilment.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt more than simple sentences, for example with “not only … but also” and the subordinate clause beginning “when.” This shows some willingness to use varied structures. However, control is inconsistent: “not only it provides” has incorrect word order, and “when generation find their interest … they feel” has problems with the article or plural form and subject–verb agreement. The final sentence is incomplete after “As a result, they might,” which prevents the idea from being expressed accurately. Practise checking agreement and clause structure, and ensure every sentence has a complete main clause. A wider range will be more effective when these basic patterns are controlled.
