Student answer (Band 6.5)

In the current technological era, having atleast one hobby will benefit all age groups. I prefer it to be some sort physical activity that aids to health benfits. Our current days mostly revovle around job or studies that leaves a less amount of time to take care of our health. Creating a routine with give us fixed time to acheive the physical goal and strength.

For young children hobby can be reading a book or drawing which can benfit their concentration and cognitive ability. Now a days young adluts are mostly immersed in social media that has reduced alot of social interaction. Adapting a daily run or joining walking group will help them to meet new people and also develop their communication skills, as they will get opportunity to meet people with different mind sets.

Moreover, for wroking professionals physcial hobby help alot to reduce stress by evening walk or an hour of gym after their long working day. For example , I have very bad back and neck pain due to stitting at desk for longer hours . Now I have started talking mutiple short breaks in between when ever possible and stroll outside with helps me slow down and feel fresh air. This has become my hobby and it aslo improved my problem solving ability alot.

Additionally, retired people are struggling to keep themselves busy. Probably a volunteering event or joining group that support local comunity give them sense of belonging. This also keeps old poeple motivated to get out house rather than being confined at home.

Inconclusion , I can openly say that having atleast one hobby has multiple advantages for all people with different ages. It also helps them to thrive in their busy life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you support everyone having a hobby, particularly one involving physical activity. You address children, young adults, working professionals and retired people, and give relevant reasons and examples, including your experience of taking breaks to ease back and neck pain. These details make the response purposeful and support your opinion. The discussion is generally extended, although some claims are broad—for example, that hobbies help people “thrive in their busy life”—and the benefits for children and retirees could be explained with a more specific illustration. To strengthen the response further, develop each age-group example with a clear link between the activity and its particular benefit, while keeping your position consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your view, separate paragraphs discuss different age groups, and a conclusion restates your position. Paragraphing helps readers follow the examples, and transitions such as “Moreover” and “Additionally” signal the move to new groups. The sequence is logical, though the repeated age-group structure can feel somewhat list-like, and some links between ideas are not fully smooth. For instance, the opening moves from hobbies generally to physical activity, then to reading and drawing for children without explaining how these examples fit your preference. Use a few more precise references and linking phrases to show relationships between claims, and make the conclusion synthesize the main benefits rather than simply repeat the introduction.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “cognitive ability,” “social interaction,” “communication skills,” “sense of belonging” and “problem solving ability.” This gives you enough range to discuss several age groups and their needs. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations are noticeable, such as “health benfits,” “revovle around,” “Adapting a daily run,” and “stitting at desk.” Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “help” and “people,” and phrases such as “a less amount of time” are not idiomatic. These issues sometimes make the reader pause, even though your meaning is usually recoverable. Proofread spelling carefully and learn common collocations, choosing more exact verbs and phrases for each benefit.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including relative clauses (“a hobby that aids…”) and reason clauses (“as they will get opportunity…”). This allows you to explain causes and benefits, and the main message remains understandable. However, errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms occur often enough to limit clarity. For example, “Our current days mostly revovle around job or studies that leaves” has an unclear subject and agreement problem, while “with give us” and “it aslo improved” show faulty verb forms. Articles are also missing in phrases such as “at desk” and “get out house.” Work on building accurate clauses and checking subject–verb agreement, articles and tense consistency; then vary sentence patterns without sacrificing control.
