Student answer (Band 6.0)
Leisure time activities are a good way of self contentment, utilize time and unwind of daily routine.
I firmly believe that people should have one such activity in which they could show their self creativity, no matter they are young or adults, working or retired. This essay will discuss main reasons behind my position.
One of the primary reasons of having at least one hobby is that it makes our mind fresh and unwind of daily hectic routine. In other words, hobbies can help to shape your inner creativity. For instance, if we talk about famous chefs, artists or singers etc, many of them would have that talent because they had it once as their hobby that later turned into popularity. Consequently, hobbies could also become a good way to built your career.
Furthermore, another significant reason supporting my view point is that children and young adults could develope their hidden skills by trying different hobbies. For example, they can pick one hobby only after spending time on various activities and then can choose one which they like the most. In addition, working people could get a relief by spending time at least on weekend on their favorite hobby. For example, some people like reading a book or some like to go out and spend time with their family which could be a good way of emotional support. Equally importantly, hobbies play a significant role in the lives of retired people as well. For example, they no longer feel alone or useless after retirement by attaching themself to valuable pastime.
In conclusion, having considered aformentioned arguments, I firmly believe that a beneficial leisure activity could be a good source of personal fulfilment. This is primarily because a productive use of leisure time could make you unwind of daily hectic routine or may helpful in your career and it could also help to develope children hidden skills. Therefore a rewarding pastime is equally beneficial for children, young adults, working people and the retired ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you firmly support having a hobby, and the conclusion restates this view. You address the groups named in the prompt, explaining possible benefits for children and young adults, working people, and retirees. The examples about exploring activities, reading, and finding companionship after retirement help make the response relevant. However, some points are more fully explained than others: the claim that hobbies can lead to a career is illustrated with famous chefs, artists, and singers, but the link between hobby and success is asserted rather than developed. The benefits for retired people are also brief. To strengthen the response, explain how each example demonstrates the benefit and avoid broad claims that are not supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to two supporting paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps distinguish the general benefits of hobbies from their value to different age groups, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “For example,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Some linking is mechanical or repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “For example” and “In addition.” The second body paragraph also groups several age groups and benefits together, so its progression can feel list-like. In places, references such as “that talent” and “which” are not fully precise. Use fewer formulaic transitions and organise each paragraph around a clearly developed main idea, with references that unmistakably identify what they refer to.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “personal fulfilment,” “hidden skills,” “emotional support,” and “valuable pastime.” These choices show an effort to express ideas beyond basic statements, and the meaning is generally clear. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “self contentment,” “unwind of daily routine,” and “turned into popularity.” There are also spelling or word-form errors, including “develope,” “built” where the intended form is “build,” and “aforementioned.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Focus on learning common word partnerships and checking spelling and word forms; for example, say “relieve stress” or “unwind after a hectic day” rather than translating phrases literally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional and subordinate structures such as “if we talk about famous chefs…” and “after spending time on various activities.” Most ideas remain understandable, and the response includes some effective sentence variety. However, some grammatical errors persist in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, and punctuation. For instance, “people should have one such activity in which they could show” shifts awkwardly between present and conditional forms, while “a productive use of leisure time could make you unwind … or may helpful” lacks a parallel, correctly formed verb phrase. The sentence beginning “Therefore a rewarding pastime” also needs clearer punctuation. Review verb patterns after modal verbs and keep parallel structures consistent; careful editing would make your complex sentences more controlled.
