Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that everyone should have a hobby, and you address children, adults and older people. Relevant reasons include relaxation, physical activity, happiness and keeping the mind occupied; examples such as dancing, painting and community activities help illustrate your view. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For instance, the claim that hobbies help children develop ideas that lead to a better future is not supported with an example, and the discussion of community service is only briefly connected to the benefits of hobbies. The reference to work–life balance is relevant but general. Develop these ideas by explaining how a particular hobby benefits a group and giving a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, paragraphs discussing general pressures and different age groups, and a concluding restatement of your opinion. This gives the reader an overall path through the argument. Some connections, however, are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Hereby” does not naturally introduce your opinion, and “Hence” signals a conclusion but the final paragraph then adds a new example about the USA. The paragraph about adults and older people also shifts between community service and group activities without clearly linking them. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s focus, connect examples explicitly to the point they support, and reserve the conclusion for summarising rather than introducing new material.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “mental and physical load,” “community services,” “dopamine” and “work-life balance,” and you attempt to discuss several kinds of hobbies. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause, as in “evryday,” “agge,” “habby” and “favourate.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “packed heavy tasks at job” and “release good amount of dopamine.” Repetition of “hobby,” “important” and “help” limits the range. Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing natural collocations, and vary repeated words where appropriate. For example, you could use “leisure activity” or “pastime” in place of repeated uses of “hobby.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentences, including the explanation that hobbies can help people stay active and happy. The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. Examples include “Hobbies are form to relax,” “a person go through,” and “Hobbies comes,” where verb forms or agreement are incorrect. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in phrases such as “from a children” and “Adults are packed heavy tasks at job.” Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, particularly where sentences begin with “other” or “And.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and complete sentence patterns, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb. This will make your varied ideas easier to follow.
