Student answer (Band 6.5)
It has always been a matter of debate that it is essential for everyone to have a hobby. It does not matter if they are children, young people, working individuals or even retirees, they should have a hobby to pursue. In my viewpoint, this is a positive approach for the society. In the upcoming essay, I will discuss this prespective briefly.
To commence with, having a hobby could develop kids and young adults in multiple ways. By performing recreational activities such as reading and writing, kids can enhance their learning skills which would help them in their foundational learning. Similarly, the young generation sometimes pursue their hobby as a career. Shifting one's hobby into a career or business can provide an individual with significant growth. As they are interested and passionates about their career. For instance, it has been published in numerous studies that individual having leisure interests often have high chances of success in both personal and professional life.
Furthermore, having a hobby is necessary for working individuals and retirees to keep themselves disconnected from daily-life stress and active during retirement, respectively. Working professionals cope with stress and deadlines all their day while doing their favourite activity they can give themselve a relief from such pressure. Since most adults have sedentary lifestyle, It also helps them to be healthy. Moreover, old people should participate and develop hobbies related to physical fitness. This is because, retirees have limited moment which will affect their body and mind. By engaging themsleves in yoga or morning walk, they become physically fit and less prone to diseases.
To sum up, having a hobby is benefical for every human being despite of their age. I believe this as a positive trend for society. As it helps every one to grow and stay fit in their life either it is a toddler or a retiree.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the importance of hobbies for children, young adults, working people, and retirees. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are relevant and generally well-developed. For instance, you provide specific reasons for why hobbies benefit different age groups, such as stress relief for workers and physical health for retirees. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more specific; for example, instead of mentioning 'numerous studies,' you could briefly describe a specific type of hobby or a concrete scenario to strengthen your argument. Overall, the task is fully addressed with a consistent viewpoint.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with,' 'Similarly,' and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, there are some minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the slightly awkward phrasing 'either it is a toddler or a retiree' in the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. To improve, ensure that the transition between sentences is smoother and that referencing (e.g., 'this' or 'they') consistently points to a clear antecedent to avoid ambiguity.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'recreational activities,' 'sedentary lifestyle,' and 'foundational learning.' There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'passionates' instead of 'passionate' and 'limited moment' instead of 'limited mobility' or 'limited movement.' While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms. To improve, focus on learning the correct collocations for common academic phrases and proofreading for small spelling or suffix errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use complex sentences, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'individual having leisure interests' (should be 'individuals having'), 'give themselve a relief' (should be 'give themselves relief'), and 'despite of their age' (should be 'despite their age'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are occasional slips. To reach a higher band, aim for more error-free sentences and ensure subject-verb agreement is consistent throughout the text. Focusing on these small grammatical details will significantly enhance the clarity and professionalism of your writing.
