It has been argued that it crucial for people of all ages to have atleast one hobby. In my opinion, I completely agree with this view because it greatly helps in reducing the stress and improves the mental well being to stay focuses in day to day life. This essay will examine the reasons as to why having a hobby is beneficial.

One of the major reasons why people of all age groups should inculcate a hobby with in them is because it reduces the amount of stress and makes them feel relaxed especially after having a long day at work or school or at home. Also, it enlightens the mood so that whey they start working again they be remain energetic and productive at thier work or in thier studies. To exemplify, working professional and childrens are seen going to gym or cycling or with thier friends after work and thier school and work or elders visiting thier old friends group in the society as it gives them a break from their busy schedules.

Another important benefit of having a hobby is provides an opportunity to develop new skills and competencies. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas regarding stress reduction and skill development are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of gym-going and learning to play the guitar. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, and the explanation of how hobbies benefit different age groups (children vs. retired people) could be more nuanced. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments could be extended further to reach a higher band level by exploring the long-term psychological impacts rather than just immediate relaxation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'One of the major reasons', 'Another important benefit', and 'To exemplify' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is unclear, such as the use of 'he' in the third paragraph when referring to a general person. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the transition between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall progression of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'inculcate', 'competencies', and 'proficient'. However, there are several spelling errors ('atleast', 'thier', 'challanges', 'guiter') and minor collocation issues ('enlightens the mood' instead of 'improves the mood'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of precise lexical items to move into the higher band categories.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('hobby allow individual', 'childrens are seen') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that affect the flow. The majority of sentences contain minor errors, which prevents the essay from reaching the 7.0 band. To improve, the writer should focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that pluralization is consistent throughout the text.
