Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, covering the importance of hobbies for different age groups. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat generic. While you mention children, working professionals, and the retired, the support for these points is repetitive, focusing primarily on 'staying fit' or 'socializing'. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, nuanced examples or deeper explanations of how hobbies specifically impact the psychological well-being of these distinct groups. The essay is well-structured and maintains a consistent focus on the topic throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin', 'However', and 'To conclude', which help the flow. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally slightly unclear, such as in the sentence 'It leads our life in very positive manners as they help us...', where the pronoun 'they' lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring pronouns clearly refer to the intended nouns would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'motivated', 'exhausted', 'socialized', and 'lifespan'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'saviour for a life' (should be 'a savior in life') and 'listening music' (should be 'listening to music'). You also use 'socialized' where 'sociable' would be more accurate. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Expanding your range to include more topic-specific collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'It help us', 'It also provide us', 'person who play') and article usage (e.g., 'listening music', 'in school', 'in park'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic agreement rules and ensuring articles are used correctly with countable nouns. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher score.
