Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent years, hooby has a significantly roles for making individual's life more interested. It has been reckoned that peolple of all ages, including children, young adults, working professoinals and retirees, should have at least one hobby. This essay will elucidate I strongly agree with this view because hobbies provide a healthy balance between responsibilities and leisure.

To commence with, having a hobby is particularly beneficial for children and young people because it allows them to develop valuable skills outside the classroom. To expound, activities such as playing a musical instument, painting, reading or participating in sports can not only boots creativity but also discipline and communication skills. Moreover, hobbies can teach young people how to manage their time effectively and work towards long-term goals. To cite an illustration, a child who regularly plays football may not only improve their physical fitness but also learn teamwork, patience and perseverance. Thus, individuals spend more time their hobbies, they become more extraversion.

To further solidify point, hobbies are equally important for adults who have demanding jobs and numerous responsibilities. spending time on an enjoyable activity can provide an opportunity to disconnect from work-related pressure and reduce stress. In addition, hobbies can prevent people from becoming overly focused on their careers and help them maintain a healthier work-life balance. For instance, an employee who spends an hour gardening or reading after work may feel more relaxed and return to their work with greater concentration the following day. As a result, a hobby can indirectly improve both productivity and overall quality of life.

To recapitulate, I firmly believe that everyone should have at least one hobby, regardless of age or occupation. People can feel more relaxation, enjoyment, important skills, social connection by hoobies. Therefore, making time for a meaningful leisure activity should be considered an essential part of a balanced life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as the benefits of football for children and gardening for working adults. However, the development is slightly uneven; while the points are clear, some arguments could be extended further to reach a higher band. For instance, the link between hobbies and 'extraversion' is a bit abrupt and lacks sufficient explanation. Overall, the response is well-focused and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used throughout, such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'To recapitulate', which help guide the reader. However, there are some minor issues with cohesion, such as the slightly awkward transition in the sentence 'Thus, individuals spend more time their hobbies, they become more extraversion.' Additionally, some referencing is slightly mechanical. Despite these minor flaws, the progression of ideas is clear, and paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with attempts to use topic-specific language like 'work-life balance', 'perseverance', and 'productivity'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'hooby' (hobby), 'peolple' (people), and 'professoinals' (professionals). Additionally, there are some word-choice inaccuracies, such as 'significantly roles' instead of 'significant roles' and 'become more extraversion' instead of 'become more extroverted'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is a good attempt at using complex sentences, such as 'An employee who spends an hour gardening or reading after work may feel more relaxed'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('hooby has a significantly roles') and missing prepositions ('spend more time their hobbies'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the main points. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would improve the score.
