Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of hobbies for various groups. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are relevant. However, the development is somewhat limited; while you mention children, working people, and the retired, the essay focuses primarily on working adults. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that the specific needs of each group mentioned in the prompt are explored more thoroughly. The examples provided, such as playing badminton, are relevant but could be expanded to better illustrate the long-term benefits for different age groups.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices like 'For example,' 'Another merit,' and 'To conclude' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'It also a hobby and help in brain development,' where the antecedent for 'It' is slightly ambiguous. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'workloads,' 'deadline pressure,' and 'socializing.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'Every individuals' (should be 'Every individual'), 'spending time in doing' (should be 'spending time doing'), and 'avoid going gym' (should be 'avoid going to the gym'). To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring subject-verb agreement, as these errors slightly limit the precision of your expression.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'People prefers,' 'hobby have become,' 'many people loves') and missing articles (e.g., 'It helps to brain'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To achieve a higher band, you need to demonstrate more consistent control over basic grammatical rules and increase the frequency of error-free complex sentences.
