Student answer (Band 6.5)
In this contemporary world, people should have some kind of hobbies because they offer pleasure and entertainment during leisure time. I strongly believe that every individuals have some special interests, as they provide numerous advantages like peace and positivity.
To begin with, one major benefit of having at least one hobby is establishing a positive environment. Since individuals have stress from school or work, it is important approach that they to participate in meaningful activities. These activities can distract them from stressful atmosphere and put them in pleasing activities. For instance, activities including cooking, painting and listening to music play a vital role in people's lives because they can unwind and engage in creative activities. As a result, they will improve creativity and bring positivity in the future.
Another significant advantage is having peace of mind and strong well-being. If children play sport or outdoor games, this will promote not only physical fitness but also improve various skills such as leadership and teamwork spirit. Furthermore, working full-time employee should also spare their time for refreshment. For instance, while driving people listen to music, which help reduce their stress level and refresh their mind by improving overall productivity. On the other hand, old people can go for walk, which helps them to remain connected to natural beauty so that they feel relaxed and peaceful.
In conclusion, although it is difficult to pursue many activities for individuals, I believe that people should spare some leisure time for one activity to reduce stress and anxiety, as these helps them to be refreshed and improve overall productivity and well-being.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, covering the importance of hobbies for different age groups and life stages. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the focus on 'stress reduction' and 'productivity' is repeated across multiple paragraphs, which limits the depth of the argument. While the examples provided (cooking, sports, listening to music) are relevant, they could be more thoroughly explained to demonstrate a more sophisticated level of critical thinking. Overall, the response meets the requirements of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different age groups and benefits. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition from discussing children to working adults in the third paragraph feels a bit abrupt. Despite these minor issues, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is some attempt to use less common vocabulary, such as 'contemporary world', 'meaningful activities', and 'refreshment'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'important approach that they to participate' and 'pleasing activities' (which is slightly unnatural). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. The vocabulary is functional but not particularly sophisticated.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'every individuals have' and 'these helps them', as well as awkward phrasing such as 'working full-time employee should also spare their time'. Punctuation is generally correct, but the frequency of these grammatical slips prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The majority of sentences are understandable, but the control over complex structures is inconsistent.
