Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued that having one hobby is significant for children, young people, employees and senior citizens. This essay agrees with this statement because this will not only assist them to utilise their spare time in an effective way but also provide them a sense of satisfaction.
On the one hand, children and youngsters with having at least one hobby can make their life enjoyable. There are multiple hobbies such as singing, dancing, sports and all these depending on the people's personal choice. Spending leisure time to perform these activities can give them refreshment and get rid of the stress. For example, it is proven that children who are passionate about their favourite hobby can make their career in that specific field because of their full dedication, emphasis, and hard work.
With regards to working and retired people, undoubtedly, both groups of people have different routines. Senior citizens should add everyday walks either morning or evening in their life which results in health benefits. However, those who work, must add a healthy diet by eating home made food and minimise the consumption of junk food which leads to making their life healthy and they can feel the sense of satisfaction. For instance, there is a survey on elderly health which described that people with having a hobby can pass their time more efficiently rather than others who just depends on others.
In conclusion, people of all ages should have one hobby to make them happy because they can indulge themselves in their preferable activities and provide them satisfaction which needs to make their life joyful.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, covering children, young adults, working people, and the retired. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the section on children is relevant, the paragraph regarding working and retired people shifts focus toward diet and general health rather than hobbies, which weakens the argument's focus. The example provided about a survey is vague and lacks specific detail. To reach a higher band, ensure that every supporting point directly relates back to the importance of having a hobby, rather than drifting into general lifestyle advice.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different groups of people. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'With regards to', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final sentence where 'which needs to make their life joyful' lacks a clear antecedent. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, but the flow could be improved with more sophisticated linking words.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'utilise', 'dedication', and 'consumption'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'with having at least one hobby' and 'just depends on others'. The range is sufficient to communicate, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Expanding the range of synonyms and focusing on natural collocations would significantly improve the lexical quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'provide them a sense of satisfaction' (missing 'with'), 'children with having' (incorrect prepositional phrase), and 'must add a healthy diet' (awkward phrasing). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The punctuation is generally correct, but the control over complex sentence structures is inconsistent. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage would help improve the accuracy of the writing.
