Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the modern era many individuals opine to have atleast one hobby , so that they could do there likely work or job that they wanted to and have interest in it, as individuals who get retired and don't have any hobby feel helpless and dependent on their off springs , I clinchingly opine that a retired individual should have an independent work or job so that he don't feel like a burden to family ,which we will discuss in the upcoming paragraphs which will lead to a logical conclusion .

To commence with individuals with proper education and degree get a full time employment or start there startup they even get opportunity for there future settlement . Universities also give them some opportunity to enhance there skills and also make there future base strong that they don't get tensed in the time of struggle and hardtimes .They even have friends who are connected to eachother and help eachother in hard times . Some even start a combined business to earn their livelihood. They only work for their passion .

On the flip side, individual with no academic knowledge and experience they often get stuck on little issues and find it difficult to resolve.Tgey take some wrong decisions that they get confused and take some wrong steps and struggle for there whole life and their families suffer too. Some parasites to the society approach them and attract them towards the illegal activities and ruin their future .

To conclude with, individuals should have a great academic knowledge so that they don't get stuck in their hardtimes and also become a helping hand to their parents in their old-age

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to address the core prompt regarding the importance of hobbies for different age groups. Instead, the essay focuses almost entirely on the importance of academic education and employment. While the introduction mentions hobbies, the body paragraphs deviate into a discussion about the necessity of degrees and the dangers of lacking academic knowledge. The prompt asks for an opinion on why hobbies are important for children, young adults, working people, and the retired, but this is largely ignored. Consequently, the response is off-topic and fails to develop the required ideas, leading to a low score for task response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak because the content does not support the prompt. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with' and 'On the flip side', but they are often used mechanically or to introduce irrelevant information. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the idea of hobbies and the discussion of academic degrees is abrupt and confusing. The conclusion does not effectively summarise the main points of the argument, as it focuses on academic knowledge rather than the topic of hobbies.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'clinchingly opine', 'future base', and 'parasites to the society'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with any precision. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the frequent misuse of terms prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Spelling errors, such as 'atleast', 'there' (used instead of 'their'), and 'Tgey', also detract from the overall quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by grammatical errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'he don't feel' and 'individual... they often get'. Punctuation is inconsistent, with spaces missing before commas and periods. The misuse of 'there' instead of 'their' is a recurring error throughout the text. While the reader can generally understand the intended meaning, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors and the lack of complex, error-free structures limit the score.
