Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's world, at least one passion or any recreational activity for every age group plays an integral role in developing new skills and stronger mental abilities. I strongly agree with the statement and I will explicate my viewpoints in upcoming paragraphs.
To commence, the reason why hobbies are more important is that it helps to develop new skills in age groups. In other words, when young adults or children show their interest in trying new activities like reading books, sports and cooking which helps to make them busy and extroverted by learning with others. Canada, For example, adults prefer to take a short duration of swimming in the summer months for enhancing the new abilities and for physical development. Hence, at least one hobby helps to make them busy and more active for the future.
Another advantage of having one hobby for the working people and being retired helps to strengthen their mental abilities. To be more clarified, working people have a stress load from their workplaces and they need some time to spend with their friends or playing games which can indirectly helps to overcome their anxiety level and feel them more relax. For instance, usually retried people always join a Golden Years Club where they are doing some free activities and making new friends which can positive impact on their health and makes them more happy in their last stage of life.
Conclusion, for every age group at least one hobby helps them to physically fit and mentally strong and they can also reduce stress and increase social connections.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, covering the importance of hobbies for children, working adults, and the retired. The position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the explanation of why hobbies are important for children relies on general statements like 'make them busy', which could be more specifically linked to cognitive or social development. The examples provided, such as the 'Golden Years Club', are relevant but could be expanded to better support the argument. Overall, the response meets the requirements but remains at a general level of discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific group or benefit. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence', 'In other words', and 'Another advantage', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To be more clarified' or 'Conclusion, for every age group'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the abrupt mention of 'Canada' at the start of a sentence. While the progression of ideas is generally logical, the flow between sentences could be smoother to achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their opinions clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'explicate', 'integral role', and 'extroverted'. However, there are also instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'feel them more relax' instead of 'help them feel more relaxed' and 'stress load' instead of 'work-related stress'. Spelling is generally accurate, but the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on repetitive phrasing like 'make them busy' or 'new abilities'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the precision of the writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('which can indirectly helps'), incorrect verb forms ('makes them more happy' instead of 'happier'), and awkward phrasing ('can positive impact on their health'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure often feels slightly fragmented. To improve, the student should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent verb tense usage.
