Student answer (Band 6.5)
It has been often said that every individual should have at least a single hobby despite of their age. This phenomenon has numerous reasons which will be discussed along with my opinion on this statement.
In my perspective it is important to have a hobby because this will help people to improve their livelihood. To be specific, taking part in activities like sports and games will not only improve physical well being but also helps to improve the ability to work in a team, especially for community under 20s. Additionally, adults and elders can take part in community services, where they can socialize and communicate instead of feeling depressed due to workload and loneliness. For instance, many libraries organize events such as restoking books on shelves, older citizens can assist in such activities, where they can socialize with locals.
On the other hand, hobbies can improve skills. When an individual works consistently on one particular thing, they can master that activity. For instance, a person who lifts weights on daily basis in gym, improves both mobility and form of performing any exercise.
Another reason why citizens should prioritize hobbies is they can divert their time in betterment rather wasting it by using a phone. In other words, most of the people spend hours just by scrolling reels on social media, whereas they can pursue a hobbies like reading and writing which will improve academic knowledge of children and productivity of office goers at work. For example, scholars who study even after school hours often obtain better results in their examinations.
In conclusion, I believe that people who have hobbies become more social active, knowledgeable and spend their time in better activities, which eventually improves their lifestyle.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all parts of the prompt, covering the importance of hobbies for different age groups. Your position is clear throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of library volunteering for the elderly and weightlifting for physical health. However, some points could be developed further; for instance, the link between hobbies and 'livelihood' is a bit vague and could be more explicitly connected to mental well-being or career development. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly answers the prompt, meeting the requirements for a Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To be specific,' 'Additionally,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In other words' to guide the reader through your arguments. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate distinct ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To reach a higher band, ensure that the relationship between sentences is more varied and sophisticated, avoiding repetitive structures at the start of your paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'phenomenon,' 'socialize,' 'productivity,' and 'master.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'restoking' (likely meant 'restocking') and 'social active' (should be 'socially active'). You also use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'improve' appearing multiple times in the second paragraph. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and collocations. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'despite of their age' (should be 'despite their age' or 'in spite of their age'), 'community under 20s' (should be 'communities of people under 20'), and 'pursue a hobbies' (should be 'pursue a hobby'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors throughout. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your accuracy.
