Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing different age groups—such as retired people and young adults—and offering a clear opinion that hobbies are important for everyone. Ideas are generally extended and supported, such as when the writer explains how fishing helps retired individuals make new friends through social media groups. However, some arguments tend to over-generalize or remain slightly under-developed, for instance, the brief mention of music listening without deep elaboration. The position is maintained clearly throughout the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Overall, the performance aligns well with the requirements for a Band 6.5 or Band 7, but due to some minor under-development in supporting points, a solid Band 6.0 is well-justified.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, starting with an introduction, followed by body paragraphs addressing specific age groups, and finishing with a clear conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to link ideas, such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes a bit mechanical or faulty, as seen in phrases like 'which I will elaborate these points in upcoming paragraphs' and abrupt transitions between unrelated activities within the same paragraph. Paragraphing is present and generally appropriate, though internal organization within the third body paragraph is slightly cluttered with multiple separate ideas grouped together. This places the text comfortably in the Band 6 category.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The writer attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate for the task, incorporating terms such as 'employment', 'motivated', 'well-being', and 'schedule'. There are, however, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'inhance' instead of 'enhance', 'rendom' instead of 'random', 'sharp mind' used as a verb phrase, and 'mantain' instead of 'maintain'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they reflect typical Band 6 limitations where less common vocabulary is attempted with recurring inaccuracies in spelling and collocation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'even if they are not able to lift up heavy object' and 'not only it will assist to spend their free time but also to keep them healthy' (though the latter contains inverted word order errors). There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasing instances, such as 'Games will a good option' (missing verb) and plural/singular noun mismatches like 'heavy object'. Punctuation is occasionally missing or misplaced, particularly around dependent clauses. Because communication remains clear despite these errors, the response meets the Band 6 descriptor.
