Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing the importance of having a hobby across different age groups, from kids to the retired, and clearly states a position ("I am agree with this statement"). Ideas are presented, such as the mental and physical health benefits of hobbies, but they tend to be repetitive and lack sufficient extension. For instance, the argument regarding older people mentions that they "don't have any other work to do in thier free time," which is somewhat simplistic. While the main aspects of the prompt are covered, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and could be deepened with more specific, well-reasoned examples rather than generalized statements. Therefore, this performance fits the Band 5 descriptors, where the task is addressed, but ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response shows some basic organization with paragraph breaks and introductory and concluding remarks ("In this modern era...", "In conclusion..."). However, there is a lack of clear overall progression and logical linking between sentences. Cohesive devices are frequently awkward, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the excessive use of "To explain this," and starting multiple sentences with "For example." Referencing is also faulty at times, as seen in fragmented clauses like "To explain this, If individuals have any hobby. Then, it will helps them..." where punctuation and conjunctions disrupt the flow. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of paragraphs lacks smooth transitions. Consequently, the organization feels mechanical and fits the Band 5 descriptor for coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms like "mental and physical health," "busy schedule," "obesity," and "positive development." However, there are numerous noticeable lexical errors and spelling mistakes throughout the text, such as "atleast," "thier," "grey hair people" instead of older or elderly people, and incorrect word forms like "its help" instead of 'it helps'. Word choice is sometimes unnatural or imprecise. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the core message, the frequency of spelling and word-choice errors causes some difficulty for the reader and places the response firmly at Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ("it will helps", "everyone have"), awkward phrasing ("I am agree"), and severe punctuation and fragment errors, such as separating dependent clauses with full stops ("To explain this, If individuals have any hobby. Then, it will helps..."). Other errors include dangling structures and incorrect verb forms ("they do for this activities"). These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader. Although simple sentences are generally understandable, the high frequency of inaccurate complex structures means the response aligns best with Band 5.
