Student answer (Band 6.0)

Now a days, In this digital world, people are getting busy day by day. They even don't enough time to relax or think about their own personal relaxation. In my opinion, I would highly suggest that, everyone in this fast-paced life, should have to adopt one hobby that will relax their mind and body.

To begin with, children and young adults have enough time when they comes from the school. Parents should involve their children in some extra curricular activities like Football, Basketball or Tennis and it will become their hobby to stretch their body and make their mind fresh. Moreover, young adults should participate in outdoor or indoor games and make their habbit of involve their mind in tricky and confusing situation. For Example, 65% of the children in a suvery have more sharper mind who play game as a habit compare to who dont have any hobbies.

On the other hand, working people who are doing nine to five job on regular basis. They have to spare sometime for themselves and make a hobby to paint or do calligraphy. For instance, I made my hobby of painting after work and I took part in a competition and I got silver medal. Furthermore, retired person should have to invest some of their time and energy in specific hobby which they like. For Instance, in recent survey of retirement homes. The person who are busy in board games or make the book reading hobby they usually not get depressed and have less mental health issues in future.

In conclusion to that, this is highly recommended in my oinion that every age should have to spent their time in making habbies of some good games or paintings.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing why having a hobby is important for different age groups, specifically mentioning children, young adults, working people, and the retired. A clear position is established in the introduction and maintained throughout the essay. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of playing games to sharpen the mind and personal painting experiences. However, some ideas tend to over-generalize, such as the unsupported statistic "65% of the children in a survey have more sharper mind", which detracts slightly from the overall persuasiveness. Nevertheless, the main task requirements are thoroughly explored, matching the descriptors for Band 6.5 or a solid Band 6, leaning towards Band 6 due to under-developed supporting arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing that addresses different demographic groups logically. Paragraphs begin with transition markers such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion to that'. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty, as seen in sentence fragments and awkward transitions like 'Parents should involve their children... and it will become their hobby' or starting sentences with conjunctions ('And they even don't enough time'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression within paragraphs stumbles over grammatical interruptions. This performance aligns well with Band 6, where cohesion is present but sometimes faulty or repetitive.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'fast-paced life', 'extra curricular activities', and 'calligraphy'. However, there are notable word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'Now a days' instead of 'Nowadays', 'dont enough time' instead of 'don't have enough time', 'habbit' instead of 'habit', 'involve' instead of 'involving', and 'oinion' instead of 'opinion'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 5.5 or 6.0. Given the attempt at functional vocabulary alongside recurrent spelling mistakes, a Band 6 is appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical control is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in tense usage, sentence structure, and subject-verb agreement. Examples include fragment sentences such as 'Working people who are doing nine to five job on regular basis' (missing a main verb) and 'The person who are busy... usually not get depressed'. Additionally, articles and prepositions are occasionally misused, such as 'got silver medal' (missing 'a') and 'in recent survey' (missing 'a'). While these errors do not completely obscure the meaning, they occur regularly and prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. This fits the Band 5.0 descriptors well.
