Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days, it is vital for people in their grey age, gen alpha and teenagers to engage themselves in a particular past time. I strongly opine, that this is a positive practice as this will inculcate a new skill in every individual, which may help them in earning if considered seriously and will also help them stay calm and relaxed throughout their scheduled cycle of work or studies.

Firstly, every human being should perform a recreational activity because as they grow they became proficient in it. For example individuals who are interested in painting can grow their hobby into business once they learn how to paint in an artistic manner. They can sell and earn a handsome amount out of it.So having a sideline skill will help them became financially independent and can help them in growing their own business.

Other then this, having a hobby can help people relax in their busy schedule and feel calm and less anxiouse. For instance many people go for yoga after their office working hours to get relaxed and many children go for dance classes to get more rejunieated after their studies, also people in their old age do some knitting and create excellent woolen cardigan which are a great outcome of their hobby. So this is how they feel relaxed in their hectic achedule.

In conclusion, people with hobbies can not only earn well while making their hobby as shill but every human being can feel relaxed and calm while performing their hobby.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether having a hobby is important for all age groups. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as painting turning into a business or yoga helping professionals relax. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise and could be further elaborated. For instance, the transition from hobby to earning is introduced in the introduction and repeated in the conclusion, but the body paragraphs remain somewhat repetitive in their explanation. The student clearly understood the prompt and responded appropriately across all specified demographics. This performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement and logical progression, starting with an introduction, moving to separate body paragraphs discussing financial and relaxation benefits, and ending with a clear conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, notably with transitional phrases like "Other then this," which contains a spelling error, and repetitive use of phrases like "So this is how" and "So having a sideline skill." Referencing is generally clear, but the logical flow between sentences occasionally feels abrupt. These characteristics fit the Band 6 descriptor level.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student attempts a range of less common vocabulary appropriate for the task, such as "inculcate," "financially independent," and "rejuvenated." However, there are noticeable lexical errors, such as "grey age" instead of old age, "past time" instead of pastime, "anxiouse" instead of anxious, and "achedule" instead of schedule. There are also awkward collocations, such as "earning a handsome amount out of it" and "create excellent woolen cardigan." While the vocabulary is adequate for the task and communication is not impeded, these frequent word-choice and spelling errors restrict the score to Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and relative clauses ("which may help them in earning if considered seriously"). There are several grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text, including comma splices and incorrect verb forms, such as "as they grow they became proficient" (instead of became) and "help them became financially independent." Despite these errors in grammar and punctuation, they rarely impede communication, and the intended meaning remains clear. This is a solid representation of Band 6 performance for grammar.
