Student answer (Band 6.5)
I strongly believe that every one irrespective of age, gender and profession must include atleast one hobby to their daily routine. Hobbies not only act as a stress buster, but many a time they also become source of income and recognisition.
Today all of us are living in a fast moving world, where we are struggling to strive a balance between our professional and personal life, this fight to maintain a balance is becoming a cause of stress, inviting diseases simultaneously. Moreover, stress and diseases are not age bound today. Anyone from six year old to 60 years old, can suffer from stress and anxiety of one and other type. Thus, it become important that person should look for an option where they can engage themselves to overcome and fight strees. Therefore, having hobby of any kind help people to get engaged mentally and physically, ensuring that they can overcome the situations responsible for stress. One of my colleagues, who really had tuff time in office due to dirty office politics, found solace in cooking and gardening. This not only helped him to overcome the mental tourture which he underwent at office, but also he started teaching cooking to bachelors, so that they can cook healthy food by themselves rather then depending on unhealthy street foods for survival.
In addition to this, many a time hobbies can also become source of inspiration to the extent that people try to master it seriously and later convert same hobby into the source of income. I remember, that one of my friend wanted to learn guitar as he simply wanted to engage himself during weekends. He joined the beginner guitar classes nearby. Eventually, he got so obsessed with the guitar learning that he took it as a challenge. Today, after mastering the guitar for almost two years, he is currently own a YoutTube channel, having 20,000 plus subscriber. Additionally, he also left his low paying job and decided to become a guitar teacher. Thus, learning a guitar which started just as a hobby, became source of income for him too. Furthermore, he earned respect and recognisition at the same time.
To conclude, it is not wrong to say that everyone should have at least one hobby to their credit. Having hobby of any type, be it a cooking, dancing, or gardening keeps a person activily engaged, both mentally and physically. This helps them to deal with the tuff phases of their lives.

The arguments are extended and supported well, aligning comfortably with the band 7 descriptors, as the position is maintained and backed by logical elaborations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay displays a clear logical organization and progression throughout. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the introduction, two body paragraphs discussing different benefits of hobbies, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well, such as 'Today all of us', 'Moreover', and 'In addition to this'. However, there are minor mechanical transitions and occasional referencing issues, such as 'he is currently own a YouTube channel', which keep the cohesion slightly below the level required for a band 8. Nonetheless, the overall arrangement is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary with some flexibility and precision, attempting less common items such as 'stress buster', 'recognisition', 'solace', and 'mental tourture'. There are occasional spelling errors ('atleast', 'recognisition', 'tuff', 'activily') and minor word choice or collocation slips (e.g., 'he is currently own'). Despite these errors, the range of vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows the writer to convey their ideas clearly and naturally in most places, fitting the criteria for band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at structures like conditional clauses and relative clauses. There are several grammatical errors scattered throughout the text, such as article omissions ('having hobby'), subject-verb agreement issues ('he is currently own'), and preposition errors ('include atleast one hobby to their daily routine'). However, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear throughout, making band 6 an appropriate and fair evaluation.
