Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people thing that it is mandatory to have minimum one hobby among children, teenagers and employed people. In my opinion, I would say having hobby is the best medicine in order to prevent from depression. Also, it gives releaxation and satisfication to mind, whom they have hobby and following it. The following paragraphs will explain the reason behind this.
Firstly, people can stay away from depression, if they have at least one hobby. Meanwhile, in this era , everyone has their own busy schedules for schools, work etcera. While Doing repatative tasks , humans should divert their mind for that work in which they have interest. In this way they can utilise their free time for hobbies. For instance, mostly girls used to do painting after her schools and men used to play football after his work as this part of their hobbies. Therefore, having no hobby could be the reason for depression.
Secondly, it is very crucial for mental growth. Because individuals can upgrade their skills and being more active beside their usual dails tasks. To examplify, a person who is doing 9 to 5 job in call centre, he is just improving his communication skills in office. However, with the help of tasks under their hobbies, they can actual focus on different skills and activities apart from job. Hence, it improves the mental health.
In conclusion, While people may vary their opinions. However, I think people should have one hobby as compare to spent money on depression's medicine. The second main reason is they can get better mental health in order perform hobbies in their leisure time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether it is important for various age groups to have a hobby, and the writer clearly takes a position that hobbies are beneficial for preventing depression and improving mental health. Ideas are introduced and supported with reasons and examples, such as mentioning office workers and students. However, some arguments are slightly repetitive or over-generalized, particularly regarding depression. The development meets the requirements for Band 6, as all parts of the task are addressed and a relevant position is maintained throughout, though further elaboration on all mentioned age groups (children, young adults, working people, retired) would elevate the score further.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing a clear overall structure. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Meanwhile', and 'In conclusion' are employed to guide the reader through the text, although some referencing is occasionally clunky (e.g., 'whom they have hobby and following it' and 'perform hobbies'). Overall, the logical organization and progression are generally clear, aligning well with the descriptors for a Band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'mandatory', 'repathative tasks', and 'communication skills'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as writing 'Some people thing' instead of 'think', 'best medicine in order to prevent from depression', and 'releaxation and satisfication'. Spelling errors like 'repatative', 'dails', and 'examplify' also occur. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they limit the score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at structures like conditional and relative clauses ('people can stay away from depression, if they have...'). However, there is a high frequency of grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, including subject-verb agreement issues ('girls used to do painting after her schools and men used to play football after his work'), incorrect prepositions, and structural fragments ('In conclusion, While people may vary their opinions. However, I think...'). These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the grammar score from reaching Band 6, placing it firmly at Band 5.0.
