Student answer (Band 6.0)
Hobbies play an integral role in everyone's lives. Having at least one hobby is necessary for every age group, including children, young adults and working people. Honestly, I believe that an individual should spend time with themselves and do whatever they love to do in their leisure time. This essay will explain the importance of a hobby and my opinion before reaching a conclusion.
One of the major reasons why taking part in hobbies is important is to feel refresh. People often remain busy in their hectic schedules and they are unable to work on their hobbies. For example, some people love to hear music, which helps them to calm down, while others love to play indoor games. Therefore, hobbies help to get disconnect from the other world and do something that really provides them satisfaction and happiness.
Another major reason is career selection and a clear viewpoint in life. In few cases, people choose their hobbies as a career option and they start to work on their hobbies at an early stage of life. For example, folks who are passionate to cook food for others and in return they seek a few words of appreciation may choose to work in hospitality. Therefore, it gives them a clear mindset to build the career.
In my point of view, people must develop hobbies which can allow them to stay active in life. To conclude, it helps them to get rid of daily boring tasks. If they put efforts towards it, they will able to learn a new skill also. Eventually generating hobbies will undeniably help people to have some fun in life along with a few learnings.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by expressing a clear position on the importance of hobbies across various life stages. The introduction outlines the writer's stance, and subsequent paragraphs provide relevant reasons and examples, such as stress relief through music and career exploration via cooking. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed; for instance, the connection between hobbies and career selection is stated rather briefly without extensive elaboration. Despite this tendency to over-generalise slightly, the position remains clear and supported throughout, satisfying the criteria for Band 6.5 to Band 7.0. Given the solid coverage of all prompt elements and logical extensions, a score of 6.0 to 6.5 is appropriate, leaning towards 6.0 due to limited depth in idea development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Ideas are logically sequenced, moving from the general importance of hobbies to specific benefits like stress reduction and career development. Cohesive devices such as 'For example,' 'Therefore,' and 'To conclude' are used to structure the text, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as starting multiple paragraphs with 'One of the major reasons' and 'Another major reason.' Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each body paragraph focusing on a distinct point. Referencing is mostly clear, though occasional minor awkwardness in transitions prevents a higher band, placing the response firmly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'integral role,' 'hectic schedules,' 'appreciation,' and 'hospitality.' However, there are several word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text. For example, writing 'to feel refresh' instead of 'refreshed,' 'get disconnect' instead of 'disconnected,' and 'generating hobbies' instead of 'pursuing hobbies.' There are also minor awkward phrasings like 'cook food for others.' These lexical errors do not impede communication, but they highlight the limitations in precision and control, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptor where vocabulary is adequate but contains noticeable inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including relative clauses and conditional structures, such as 'If they put efforts towards it, they will able to learn a new skill also.' There are noticeable grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense and word form issues ('to feel refresh', 'they will able to', 'folks who are passionate to cook'). Punctuation and sentence structures are generally functional, and meaning is rarely obscured, but errors in grammar persist. The presence of these recurring errors alongside a moderate range of structures places the grammar performance squarely at Band 6.0.
