Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays in busy life one needs to have hobby. For having a hobby age does not matter so whether you are a young adult , working , child or a retired you must have a hobby .

As per my opinion one should have a hobby. Nowadays the daily life has became very busy. In office there is lot of work pressure , in schools students have the performance pressure . In this routine full of stress we need some me time or relax time . For this we should have a hobby to relax our mind, feel fresh and be active and happy . Hobby makes us happy .

My hobby is dancing . I like to dance . After my hectic day , my mind is just tired .So it needs some relax time.In evening i go to dance class and learn differnt form of dance. Dancing make me happy , my body feels relax ,my mind is fresh. My diet has also beacme good and i feel fit.My health has improved alot from dancing. I have learned various dance forms .

So next day when i go to work I feel fresh and full of energy.Day begins at work and it is stressful but as dancing has become my hobby I don't feel much tired much . As i go home take some rest and go to dance class i feel energetic and fresh . So my opinion is whatever age you are a child , young adult or retired person you should have a hobby which will keep you happy and always fresh.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the task by stating their opinion clearly that people of all ages should have a hobby. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas tends to be repetitive and limited mostly to stress relief and happiness, particularly leaning on a personal example about dancing. While the prompt asks about children, young adults, working people, and the retired, the response touches upon these groups generally at the beginning and end, but the main body lacks deep extension across all demographic categories mentioned in the prompt. This places the task response at Band 6.0, as it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, but some groups and points are under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement, following an introduction, a body paragraph discussing stress, a personal example about dancing, and a concluding summary. However, paragraphing is somewhat erratic and repetitive, with very short, choppy sentences and paragraphs that could be better combined. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes mechanical (e.g., 'As per my opinion', 'Nowadays', 'So', 'My hobby is...'). Referencing is mostly clear, but the logical progression suffers from abrupt shifts between sentences. This performance fits Band 5.5 to 6.0, with a clear organizational structure that is occasionally hampered by mechanical cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully communicating everyday ideas and feelings. Words like 'hectic day', 'performance pressure', and 'stressful' are used appropriately. However, there are notable spelling errors ('beacme' instead of became, 'differnt' instead of different, 'alot' instead of a lot) and awkward phrasing ('relax time' instead of relaxation time). Attempts at less common vocabulary are limited, and word choice is sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'fresh', 'happy', 'relax'). This reflects Band 5.5 to 6.0, characterized by an adequate range with some recurring lexical inaccuracies and spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as conditional or relative clauses ('so whether you are a young adult... you must have a hobby'). There are frequent errors in punctuation and grammar, such as missing articles ('In office there is lot of work pressure'), incorrect verb tenses ('has became'), and run-on clauses ('Day begins at work and it is stressful but as dancing has become my hobby I don't feel much tired much'). Despite these errors, they rarely impede overall communication because the meaning remains transparent. This performance aligns comfortably with Band 5.5 to 6.0.
