Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many people think that people of all age group, including children, adults, workers and the retired employees should have at least one hobby through out their lives. I firmly believe that it is necessary to have a hobby. It helps a person overcome from stress.
One of the main reasons is that it helps people cope with stress which possibly could come from work or a personal incident. Everyone can pass through their diffcult time while doing their favorite acivities. For example, my hobby is to watch a cinema. If I deal with too much pressure then I would open my laptop and watch a good movie which would make me forget about my problems. Another reason is that good hobbies like playing a sport or doing an exercise can help you to get a better healthy life. Imagine people are doing some activities to overcome their problems and geting a healthy life style with that then it is a win for them.
In addition, hobbies are very beneficial for mental health. People who are more regularly engaged in their hobbies tend to be more happier in their lives. For instance when I was younger, I was able to play cricket on every weekends that made me physically fit and mentally happy as well. Because Cricket is the only sport which I enjoy a lot. Lastly, It helps to develope positive midsets. People who follow their hoobies are tend to have a good relationships with their friends and colleagues. The reason behind is that such people are able to stay happy in difficult time. As a result, I strongly believe that people need to have at least one hobby.
In conclusion, some people are in favor of a view that people need to have one hobby to live their lives stress free. Also, they are able to enjoy the pain with the help of a their favorite hobby. I strongly agree with that because it personally help me during my difficult periods.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing why having a hobby is important across different life stages, including children, workers, and the retired. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. The ideas are extended and supported with relevant personal examples, such as watching movies or playing cricket to relieve stress. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise and could have been elaborated with slightly more depth to reach higher band levels. For instance, the discussion on mental health and relationships is slightly brief. Overall, the prompt is well-covered and fulfils the task requirements adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay displays a clear overall progression and logical organisation. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with distinct introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'One of the main reasons', 'In addition', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' are employed to guide the reader through the text, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional minor flaws in referencing words exist. Overall, the arrangement of ideas is coherent and easy to follow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common lexical items such as 'overcome from stress', 'physically fit', and 'positive midsets' (typo for mindsets). There are some noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices, such as 'overcome from stress' (instead of 'recover from' or 'overcome stress'), 'watch a cinema' (instead of 'watch a film'), and 'enjoy the pain' (likely a mistranslation or misuse). Spelling errors like 'acivities', 'diffcult', 'geting', 'develope', and 'hoobies' appear, though they do not impede overall communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar. Examples of successful complex structures include 'If I deal with too much pressure then I would open my laptop...' and 'People who are more regularly engaged in their hobbies tend to be more happier...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'people of all age group' (should be ages or age groups), 'more happier' (double comparative), and punctuation issues. Errors occasionally require the reader to slow down, but they rarely impede overall understanding.
