Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern era all of us are quite busy in our own life, wheather the children they are busy in their studies and homeworks or adults, they have so many responsibilities related to family and work. If we see around in this busy schedule they are forgetting to enjoy their life at fullest. Also ,it may cause the stress and depression that we can observe in the nature of human beings. If we see the data in last decade, it is increasing day by day that people are suffering from depression and anxiety.

In my opinion, to reduce the stress level, it is significant to include our hobbies in our daily life, as by doing this the people will be securing their health and can stay happy. As everybody know that somehow, tension is the reason behind any other kind of health issue, so to overcome from this problem we should include our favorite hobbies in our daily lifestyle, to feel happy and to forget about our stress.

For example, if someone loves music or have interest in playing cricket or chess, if they take out some time from their busy schedule to take participate in their favorite activities, it will definetly reduce stress and it will also help people to become happy. Also they can be more concentrated in their other work if they feel happy inside.

To conclude, i would say, hobby plays an important role in an individual life, as it makes people happy and reduce their daily life stress. To maintain our health and stay happy we should include our favorite activities as a part of our life to overcome all the problems in our life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing why hobbies are important for children, adults, and working people in terms of stress reduction and overall happiness. The writer takes a clear position in the second paragraph ('In my opinion, to reduce the stress level, it is significant to include our hobbies in our daily life'). Ideas are generally relevant and extended with examples, such as mentioning specific activities like playing cricket, chess, or listening to music. However, the development of ideas tends to be slightly repetitive, looping back to stress and happiness without introducing deeper analytical insights for all age groups mentioned in the prompt. Nevertheless, the main task requirements are met effectively, aligning well with Band 6.0 descriptors for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Progression is visible as the writer moves from introducing the problem of modern stress to proposing hobbies as a solution, followed by illustrative examples. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'If we see' and 'Also'. Paragraphing is utilized, though the third body paragraph is quite short and could be better integrated. Referencing is occasionally ambiguous, but overall logical sequencing is maintained throughout the response, justifying a Band 6.0 score.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as 'responsibilities', 'significant', 'concentrated', and 'individual life'. There are some attempts to use less common vocabulary like 'overcome from this problem' and 'definetly reduce stress', though word choice and spelling inaccuracies are present (e.g., 'wheather' instead of 'whether', 'homeworks' as an uncountable noun, and 'definetly' misspelled). Word formation and collocation errors occur, such as 'take participate' instead of 'participate'. Despite these lexical flaws, communication is not impeded, fitting comfortably into the Band 6.0 descriptor range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over compound structures, such as conditional clauses ('if someone loves music... it will definetly reduce stress'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text. Examples include run-on sentences ('In this modern era all of us are quite busy in our own life, wheather the children they are busy...'), incorrect prepositions ('overcome from this problem'), and comma splices. While these errors are noticeable and require the reader to occasionally pause, they do not severely obstruct the overall meaning, warranting a Band 5.5 score.
