Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the advanced world, it is beneficial for youngsters, young adults, working individuals and the retired to have at least one hobby. I believe, it is vital and will share my opinion in the upcoming paragraphs.
Having one hobby works as a stress reliever. If everyone will have one hobby, during their free time, people can focus on their hobby or when they are stressed they can use their hobby as a distracter, it will help them to reduce stress and a peaceful mind. Moreover, hobby keep the person busy, people do not get bored if they have hobby. They can prevent depression and loneliness by pursuing their hobby, this will make them free from mental stress. For instance, person who is frustated with family can keep workout as a hobby, it will work as a stress buster and person will feel rejuvinated.
Additionally, hobbies can make a person popular. Hobbies figure out the hidden talents and if that hobby converts into a talent will lead to a bright future. For example, person has drawing as a hobby and become artist. Hobbies build your confidence and keep you busy.
If children pursue their hobby they can have a fantastic future, working people will find hobby relaxing from a hectic day.
To conclude, hobbies reduce stress and keep the person of all ages productive and busy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that having a hobby is vital for people of all ages. However, the ideas are relatively undeveloped and repetitive, focusing almost exclusively on stress relief. Furthermore, the length requirement of 250 words is not met, as the student's response contains only 225 words. This under-length impacts the depth of taskful development required at higher bands. While all demographic groups mentioned in the prompt are touched upon briefly, the supporting examples are somewhat generalized and lack the depth expected for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The text demonstrates a basic logical organisation with a clear introduction and conclusion. However, paragraphing is somewhat weak, particularly with very short, underdeveloped paragraphs towards the end. Cohesive devices are used, but sometimes repetitively or mechanically, such as 'Moreover' and 'Additionally'. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression of ideas feels slightly disjointed due to the brevity of the body paragraphs. Overall, the arrangement provides a coherent framework, but lacks the sophisticated cohesion and skilful paragraphing associated with Band 7.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'stress reliever', 'distracter', 'rejuvinated', and 'stress buster'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'in the advanced world' instead of 'in the modern world', 'frustated' (spelling error), and 'hobby keep' (agreement error). These errors do not impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complexity occasionally result in grammatical errors. Examples include 'If everyone will have one hobby...' (incorrect use of future tense in conditional clause) and 'person who is frustated... can keep workout' (missing article and gerund form issues). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are several run-on sentences and comma splices. While the errors occasionally cause slight hesitation for the reader, communication remains clear throughout.
