Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is sometimes argue that learning at least one hobby is important among children, teenagers, working people, and the retired. I completely agree with this view because having one or more hobbies can enable an individual to make use of their leisure time rather than focusing on work alone.

Having hobbies can serve as means of relaxation for children, young adults, working people and retired. This will enable them to be productive and know how creative they are. There are different hobbies for different people according to their class or level. For example, Children can develop a hobbies in games, creativities like painting, drawing and so on, this will enable them to make good use of their free time. In addition, teenagers can can also develop interest in cooking, learning new technologies, sports and other creativity. Working class will also benefits from this. Therefore having a hobby can helps to prevent boredom, lonliness, and other mental health related issues.

People who do not have hobbies find it difficults to cope in their free time. People can create there own hobbies themselves without been forced. Find some thing that they really love and will enjoy doing at their own leisure time. This is how you can develop it.

In conclusion, it is important for people to develop at least one or two hobbies for themselves in other to make us of their free time and develop skills. I believe if children, teenages, working class and the retired have hobbies it will be beneficial to them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by expressing a clear position in agreement with the prompt and discussing various demographic groups, such as children, teenagers, working people, and the retired. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as mentioning painting and drawing for children, and cooking and sports for teenagers. However, some ideas remain slightly repetitive or under-developed, particularly when discussing working and retired adults. The explanation of how to develop a hobby in the third paragraph is somewhat brief. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 6.0 as it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, though some parts could be more fully explored and supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, moving from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing different groups, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty and mechanical, such as the abrupt transition in 'Working class will also benefits from this' and the fragmented sentences in the third paragraph like 'Find some thing that they really love'. Referencing and logical progression are occasionally hindered by punctuation and sentence structure issues. Therefore, the response aligns best with Band 6.0 descriptors, where cohesion is present but shows noticeable flaws and mechanical usage.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'productivity', 'mental health related issues', and 'leisure time'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'argue' instead of 'argued', 'a hobbies' instead of 'a hobby', 'creativities', 'difficults' instead of 'difficult', 'there' instead of 'their', and 'been' instead of 'being'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5 because the vocabulary control is inconsistent and contains frequent basic inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I completely agree with this view because having one or more hobbies can enable...' However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues, including subject-verb agreement errors ('having a hobby can helps'), missing plural markers ('Children can develop a hobbies'), and sentence fragments ('Find some thing that they really love'). While these errors rarely impede overall communication, they appear consistently throughout the response, placing the grammatical performance firmly in the Band 5.5 range due to a lack of secure control over complex structures.
