Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that people of all ages, from children to retirees, should have at least one hobby. In this essay, I will explain why I agree with this view with supporting reasons and examples.
The most important reason for having at least one hobby is that it provides a way to relax and relieve stress.Spending some time on a hobby can take people's minds away from their daily routines and responsibilities. As a result, people can forget about their mental stress associated with their routine afterwards feel more refresh. For example, After whole working day if professionals spend some time for exercising or visit to gym can helps them to feel relax and more energetic rather than memorsing their workload for next day. It can also beneficial for them to perform better on next day as a improvement in productivity. While retirees can spent their evening by walking in nearby parks as a hobby and chance to meet their neigbours. It can help them to relieve stress of being in isolation for whole day. Therefore, hobby plays important role in everyone lives and beneficial in many ways.
Another reason is that it gives a chance to everyone to explore and enhace their skills. Some people are busy with their working culture or workload and prefer to stay in their comfort rather than trying something new. Whereas, hobby plays important role. They will get a chance to explore and learn something new outside their routine which makes them extrovert person and sometimes boost their confidance to spend time on regular basis as a hobby. For example, Some people are not aware about their talent and improve their self confidence. After spending time as a hobby in singing, they are more likely interested to built their future in singing or get to learn more deeper towards singing. Although, hobby is not only important for boost the confidenace but also help to improve skills and learning new things.
To conclude, while some people thinks that at least one hobby is essential for everyone. In my opinion, it is a necessity. It not only help people to relieve their stress and feel relaxing but also contribute postively towards learning new skill in a funway. It can also help people to unhide their talent in front of the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing why people across different life stages benefit from having a hobby. The position is clear throughout the essay, establishing agreement with the prompt from the introduction to the conclusion. Main ideas are presented and extended, such as stress relief for professionals and retirees, and skill development. However, some arguments lack full clarity and suffer from under-development or slight over-generalisation. For instance, the transition from stress relief to productivity is a bit rushed, and examples like the reference to singing could be explained more smoothly. Nevertheless, the response covers the prompt effectively and maintains a relevant, coherent stance throughout, aligning well with the Band 6.5 or 7 descriptor set. We award a Band 6.0 as some ideas are slightly undeveloped and lack deeper illustration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraphing structure, moving from an introduction through separate body paragraphs for relaxation and skill development, to a final conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'The most important reason', 'Another reason', and 'To conclude', which helps guide the reader through the text. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, phrases like 'afterwards feel more refresh' and 'visit to gym can helps them' disrupt the natural flow between clauses. Paragraphing is present and appropriate, but the internal logical progression within the second body paragraph feels slightly disjointed due to grammatical friction and awkward transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'responsibilities', 'productivity', 'isolation', and 'extrovert person'. However, there are numerous word-choice, collocation, and morphological errors that hinder precision, such as 'more refresh' instead of 'refreshed', 'visit to gym' instead of 'going to the gym', 'enhace' instead of 'enhance', and 'unhide their talent'. While these vocabulary errors are noticeable, they rarely impede overall communication, as the writer's core message remains understandable. The lexical range is sufficient for the prompt, but frequent slips place it firmly in the Band 6 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional-like structures ('While retirees can spent...', 'If professionals spend...'). However, there is a high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense issues, subject-verb agreement errors, and preposition mistakes (e.g., 'afterwards feel more refresh', 'After whole working day', 'can helps them', 'spent their evening', 'boost their confidance'). Although these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur across many sentences, preventing the response from reaching Band 6.0 cleanly. The control over basic structures is inconsistent, leading to a Band 5.5 score.
