Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task prompt regarding whether people of all life stages should have at least one hobby. You state a clear position in the introduction ("I strongly believe that every individual should have at leat one hobby irrespective of the age-group") and maintain it throughout the essay. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as mentioning playing musical instruments, drawing, and how music therapy can help with blood pressure problems. You also explore both personal development and career benefits, such as freelancing. While some arguments, such as the mention of children developing concentration, are slightly general, the overall task response fulfills the requirements well, aligning with Band 7 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay displays a clear overall progression and logical organisation. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as the cognitive and creative benefits in the second paragraph and career prospects in the fourth paragraph. Cohesive devices are employed adequately, including transitional phrases like "One of the main reasons", "Another potential benefit", and "To conclude". However, cohesion can sometimes feel slightly mechanical, and there are occasional awkward transitions or minor punctuation issues near conjunctions, such as unnecessary spaces before commas (e.g., "that , it makes"). Referencing is generally clear, placing this performance solidly at Band 6.5 or 7.0; it is awarded a 7.0 for clear logical progression throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to allow flexibility and precision, attempting less common lexical items such as "emotionally drained", "freelancers", and "fulfillment". However, there are notable spelling errors and typos throughout the text, including "Every individuals", "at leat", "crtical", "reding", "Anothe", "childfen", "indulge" (instead of indulged), "engage doing" (instead of engaged in doing), "fruiteful", and "eveone". Despite these vocabulary and spelling slips, communication is never impeded, and the range used is adequate for a Band 6.0 performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied structures such as conditional and relative clauses ("Children who are mostly indulge in hobbies..."). However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as subject-verb agreement issues ("Every individuals has"), missing prepositions ("nurturing a at least one hobby"), incorrect word forms ("use to relieve" instead of used), and dangling modifiers ("music therepy was used to heal blood pressure related problems"). Punctuation and spacing errors also detract from grammatical control. Because errors are frequent enough to cause some strain on the reader while simple structures remain generally accurate, this warrants a 6.0.
