Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to address all parts of the prompt by discussing the importance of hobbies for children, adults, and the retired. However, the ideas are under-developed and lack sufficient explanation or concrete examples. Furthermore, the response falls short of the minimum word count requirement, containing only 222 words instead of the required 250 words. This under-length impacts the overall development of the task. The writer states a clear position at the beginning ('I will definetly agree to this statement'), but the supporting body paragraphs remain quite brief and superficial, particularly the truncated concluding sentence. Therefore, it meets the criteria for Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text demonstrates some organisation with paragraph breaks corresponding to different age groups mentioned in the prompt. However, overall progression is limited due to the brevity of the response. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or awkward, such as starting paragraphs with 'One of the most convincing reasons, It will be...' and 'In addition to this, for the adult people...'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear or mechanical. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete and trails off abruptly. These features place the writing securely within Band 5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with several noticeable spelling and word choice errors such as 'built' instead of 'build', 'Ther' instead of 'There', 'definetly', 'curicular', 'childrens', 'frustation', 'studing', 'energitc', 'intrest', and 'benefiv'. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary like 'extra curricular', these errors and the limited range of flexible language restrict the score. The lexical adequacy is minimally sufficient to convey the general message, aligning with Band 5 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as tense and agreement issues ('we came across report', 'children are... they should be', 'school also create several competition', 'its a difficult time you but twice or thrice a week'). Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also problematic, resulting in incomplete structures like 'Being a retired person with less energitc at that age, so its better to see the skills...'. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 5 profile.
