Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is believed that, each and every person whether he/she is child, adult, employeed or retired should have one or more avocation in life. In my perspective, I believe that this is true. This essay will explain why I hold this view.
To begin with, hobby is not complusory for person but it is an activity that individual love to do. An every person should have atleast one pursuit in life. To be more detailed, for children who are studing or our in the college. Should have one hobby that make them happy and they can spend quality time on it. Consequently, this will help them to relief from the their regular academics. From my own example, I love to do painting in my lesiure time. Whenever I get bored and stress of my day. Painting is sense of relief, something I will always look forward. Similarly, For adults hobby like reading, coding, painting etc, make them feel relaxed from their daily college life. For instance, if adult have hobby of reading books and novels this could help them improve their communication skills.
Futhermore, We all know how the corporate life is. Everyday you to wake up, go to work, do similar type of work, come home and sleep. This can causes several mental and physical issue to person. Therefore, some activity that make you happy should be part of your life. For example, the recent studies show that workers who spend their quality time in work they love to do work more efficiently at workplace as compared to people who no side hobby. Moving forward, According to recent studies from oxford university shows that older ones who have hobby of walking are found more to fit physically as compared to others.
To put it nutshell, avocation is activity that make your boring day special for moment, and can help you improve your life and career skills. Moreover, it has great outcomes on mental and physical health.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by giving a clear personal opinion on whether people of all ages should have a hobby, supporting it with relevant examples. The position is maintained throughout the essay. Ideas are extended, such as explaining how hobbies relieve stress for students and improve physical fitness for older adults based on Oxford University studies, though some arguments are slightly repetitive. The writer covers children, adults, working people, and the retired as prompted by the prompt. This performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors, as all parts of the task are addressed and ideas are generally relevant, but some points remain slightly under-developed or general in nature.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with clear attempts at paragraphing and sequencing ideas logically from introduction to body paragraphs and conclusion. Transitional phrases such as 'To begin with', 'Futhermore', and 'To put it nutshell' are used to guide the reader. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen in fragmented sentence structures like 'Should have one hobby that make them happy' and 'Similarly, For adults hobby...'. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion lacks smooth transitions in places. Referencing is occasionally unclear, which places this text securely in the Band 6 category for managing organisation and cohesive devices with noticeable flaws.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate for the topic, including terms like 'avocation', 'academic', 'corporate life', and 'efficiently'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'employeed' instead of 'employed', 'complusory' instead of 'compulsory', 'lesiure' instead of 'leisure', and 'Futhermore' instead of 'Furthermore'. Less common vocabulary is attempted but often marred by inaccurate spelling or awkward collocations ('older ones', 'stress of my day'). Because these errors do not impede communication but occur with regularity, this response corresponds to Band 6 for lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to vary sentence structures. However, frequent grammatical errors are present, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement ('hobby like reading... make them feel', 'studies from oxford university shows'), missing articles ('stress of my day', 'have hobby'), and sentence fragments ('Should have one hobby that make them happy'). Punctuation errors also occur, such as unnecessary comma splices and stray periods ('Consequently, this will help them to relief from the their regular academics.'). Because errors are frequent in complex structures and cause some strain for the reader while still allowing the overall message to be understood, a band score of 5.0 is appropriate.
