Student answer (Band 6.0)
Hobbies plays a significant role in everyone's life. Some people have hobbies to escape from their daily life while some takes hobbies to another level and end up making career.
In my prespective it is really important for childerns, young adults, working professional and as well as retired veterns to have hobby.
For childerns, having a hobby is important for their overall development. Many successful celebrities are famous today because they end up becaming successful in one of their hobbies or activities that they used to do as a child.
The best real life example is grand master Sri Vishawnathan, started planning chess at the age of 4 and end up wining grand chess title at the age of 12. Making him youngest grand master to ever win this title.
Furthermore, it is scientifically proven such hobbies help an individual develope and enhancing their critical thinking, better decision making abilities.
Similarly, many young professional and working people like to play indoor and outdoor more oftenly, which help them to stay calm and fit. As it is not possible for majority of the individual to go gym or exercise on regular basis. Meanwhile, many working professional these days represent their countries on international level while working full time.
Recently during cricket world cup, many of playing members of Canada's national team where full time corporate workers. When asked how came they ended up playing in international league the common answer were, they enjoyed playing cricket when they were child and over the years they keep on playing whenever possible helping them to build a stronger skills both professionally and in game.
Addtionally, the overall long term benefits of having one hobby atleast lead to better confident and concentration.
In conclusion, It is really important for everyone to atleast have one hobby. As this extra activities is really sigificant for overall health and better development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing why having a hobby is important for children, young adults, working professionals, and retirees. The writer establishes a clear position agreeing with the statement throughout the essay. Ideas are extended and supported with examples, such as the mention of Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand and the composition of Canada's national cricket team. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise slightly, and some supporting details could be more tightly focused on the core argument. Overall, the task is addressed well, fulfilling the requirements for a Band 6.5 or solid Band 7 response, though minor under-development in the discussion of retired individuals keeps it at a Band 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a clear overall arrangement with distinct paragraphs dedicated to the different age and social groups mentioned in the prompt. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Similarly', and 'In conclusion' are used to signal logical progression. However, referencing is sometimes unclear, and cohesion can feel mechanical in places, such as the abrupt transitions between paragraphs. Paragraphing is generally used sufficiently and appropriately, but some sentences within paragraphs lack smooth connective tissue, which pulls the coherence down slightly.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'overall development', 'critical thinking', and 'corporate workers'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occur throughout the text, including 'prespective' instead of perspective, 'childerns' instead of children, 'becaming' instead of becoming, 'planning chess' instead of playing chess, 'wining' instead of winning, 'develope' instead of develop, and 'more oftenly' instead of more frequently. While these errors do not impede overall communication, their frequency prevents the score from reaching a Band 7.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Many successful celebrities are famous today because they end up becoming successful in one of their hobbies...' However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense usage, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions (e.g., 'Hobbies plays', 'some takes hobbies', 'they keep on playing', 'how came they ended up'). There are also punctuation and phrasing slips throughout. These errors require some effort to decode and indicate a lack of strong grammatical control, fitting the Band 5.5 profile.
