Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today scenario, it is of paramount importance to have at least one hobby by all age group people wheather it should be children, adults, working or non working people. I think it will help them to cope up with the daily stress and let them choose a good carrer as well.

Hobbies will help to retreaved from day to day stresses. All the stages of life from adolsense to senior citizens everyone is bearing lots of prsessure. The exam burden on children, the better education for adults, better job for working people and better life after retirement for senior citizens. To cope up with the daily activities again the next day everyone needs to have some hobby which will divert their mind and refresh them. Moreover, there interest will motivate them to focus and give them a boost to fight again all the stresses. For instance the gym as a hobby is growing popularity as it will help them to remain fit and help them to take out their stress.

The hobby can be converted into full time job as well. The players in various sport are the best example of this. They choose their passion and with full determination and efforts they become expert in their field and later on become the coaches to train other player with similar passion. All these player have a hobby with which they started at younger age and with time keep on practising and training make then become a world known player, later ended up giving coaching in retirement. Hence, one should have a vision to choose their hobbies and taking it to expertise it during its whole life.

To conclude, I believe having a hobby will make the person alive and help them to fight against the everyday pressure. Also, proper training and practise will help you upskill in your passion and may choose it as your carrer as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by giving a clear opinion on whether children, adults, working people, and the retired should have at least one hobby, and supports this with relevant reasons. The position is maintained throughout the essay. Ideas are extended, such as explaining how hobbies help relieve daily stress across different life stages and how they can potentially be converted into full-time careers through sports examples. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise slightly, and some supporting points lack precise depth, which places this response comfortably in the Band 6.5 to 7.0 territory. Overall, the task is adequately fulfilled with a clear stance and coherent development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a clear logical organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing specific points, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each body paragraph focusing on a distinct main idea. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'To conclude' are utilised to sequence ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive ('better education for adults, better job for working people'). Referencing is generally clear, though occasional clunky phrasing affects the seamless flow of information. Overall, the structure provides a coherent overall arrangement that meets the requirements for a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'paramount importance', 'adolsense' (adolescence), and 'upskill'. However, there are notable word-choice and spelling errors that occasionally detract from precision, such as 'In today scenario', 'retreaved' (retrieve), 'prsessure', 'carreer', and 'there interest' (their interest). While these errors do not severely impede communication, they reflect a lack of consistent control over less common vocabulary. Therefore, the lexical resource fits the Band 6.0 descriptor, where an adequate range is shown alongside noticeable inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, such as missing prepositions or incorrect verb forms in clauses like 'whether it should be children', 'fight again all the stresses', and 'make then become a world known player, later ended up giving coaching'. Although these errors do not entirely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from achieving a higher band. The control of grammar corresponds to Band 5.5, showing a mix of correct simple structures alongside error-prone complex structures.
