Student answer (Band 6.5)
In this busy era, people hardly have time to pursue their hobbies. Some people believe that it is essential to have at least one hobby at every age. I agree with this, and in the forthcoming paragraph, I will discuss the reason with adequate examples.
Nowadays, we can see that people are becoming part of a rat race; owing to this, they are taking the least amount of time to pursue their hobbies, which leads to stress. To divert their minds, they have to pursue their hobbies to feel less stressed, which helps them become more productive in their upcoming lives, as we know that less-stressed people are more productive. For example, if children are under too much stress and not pursuing their hobbies or not becoming stress-free, they have a chance to fail in exams. This survey was done by BBB.
For children, hobbies are a good way to learn outside the classroom. Activities such as drawing, playing sports, reading, or playing a musical instrument can improve creativity and confidence. They can also teach children important qualities such as patience and teamwork. Similarly, young adults can use hobbies to reduce the pressure of studying or starting a career. For example, playing football or going to the gym can help them stay healthy while also giving them an opportunity to meet new people.
In my own experience, I have found that exercising and listening to music help me relax after a busy day. These activities make me feel refreshed and allow me to return to my responsibilities with better concentration.
In conclusion, I believe everyone should have at least one hobby because it can improve physical and mental well-being, reduce stress, and make everyday life more enjoyable.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task directly. You state a clear position in the introduction agreeing that having a hobby is essential across all age groups, and you maintain this stance throughout the essay. Ideas are well developed, particularly in the third paragraph where you explore the specific benefits of hobbies for children and young adults, such as creativity, patience, and career stress reduction. However, the second paragraph is slightly repetitive and includes a vague, unsubstantiated reference ('This survey was done by BBB') which detracts slightly from the overall development. Overall, your ideas are relevant, and the prompt is adequately answered.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your essay demonstrates a clear overall progression. You use an introductory paragraph, body paragraphs dedicated to different age groups and personal experience, and a distinct concluding paragraph. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well to connect ideas, such as 'Similarly' and 'For example'. However, paragraphing and referencing can occasionally feel a bit mechanical. For instance, the transition into the second body paragraph relies heavily on repetition of the word 'stress' rather than smooth logical progression. Overall, the text is easy to follow and logically structured.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'rat race', 'well-being', and 'refreshed'. While there are some slight lexical awkwardnesses or repetitions—such as using the phrase 'pursue their hobbies' multiple times in close proximity—the vocabulary is generally appropriate and clearly conveys your meaning. There are no significant spelling errors that impede communication. To reach a higher band, strive for greater variety in phrasing and more precise word choice to avoid repeating the exact same terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like conditional clauses ('if children are under too much stress...') and participial phrases effectively. Grammatical control is generally quite good, with many error-free sentences, such as 'Activities such as drawing, playing sports, reading, or playing a musical instrument can improve creativity and confidence.' While there are occasional minor slips, such as the slightly unnatural phrasing in 'taking the least amount of time to pursue their hobbies', these errors are infrequent and do not impede communication at all.
