Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays people ranging from different generation, children to older are busy in their hectic schedules wether dealing with their workloads or maintaining their health. However, it is undeniable that invovling themselves in other leisure activities apart from their everyday commitments is very crucial. In my viewpoint, I believe having atleast a single interest in one skill or activity is necessary for mental health development as well as personal growth and socialisation.
To begin with, having interest in one hobby is very advatageous for not only mental health but also helps in physical development to all generation. To be specific, children and younger generation have a massive academic and professional pressure. Indulging themselves in pleasurable activities mitigate stress and anxiety. Ultimately, it contribute to development of physical and mental health. For instance, in acadamic area, along wth the studies school organises an extracurricular activities for students such as sports, crafts, entertainment activity to showcase their interest and be the best in it. consequently, it helps to in crease their personal growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response achieves a partial treatment of the prompt, expressing a clear position that hobbies are necessary for all age groups. However, it fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, stopping abruptly at 173 words after starting an incomplete final paragraph ("Furthermore, socialization s"). Consequently, the ideas are under-developed, particularly regarding how different groups like working people and the retired benefit from hobbies. To reach a higher band, the writer must fully develop arguments for all four categories mentioned in the prompt and ensure the essay is completed within the word limit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a basic logical structure, using introductory and developmental paragraphs with cohesive devices such as "To begin with" and "Furthermore". However, the progression is disrupted by the sudden termination of the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete, which impacts overall cohesion. Referencing and cohesive ties are sometimes repetitive or mechanical (e.g., repeating "generation" and "academic area"). To improve, the writer needs to ensure that every paragraph is brought to a logical conclusion and use a wider variety of cohesive devices to link ideas smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication, featuring attempts at less common items such as "hectic schedules," "mitigate stress," and "extracurricular activities." However, there are notable word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as "all generation" instead of "all generations," "acadamic area," and spelling mistakes like "wether" and "advatageous." The lexical range remains somewhat limited and repetitive. To achieve a higher score, the student should expand their vocabulary related to lifestyle and well-being, while paying closer attention to word forms, spelling, and natural collocation patterns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, incorporating subordinate clauses like "However, it is undeniable that involving themselves..." and "To be specific, children and younger generation have...". Nonetheless, grammatical errors are frequent and occasionally obscure meaning, such as subject-verb agreement issues ("children and younger generation have") and awkward phrasing ("it contribute to development"). Punctuation and word forms also need refinement. To move up to the next band, the student must increase the proportion of error-free sentences when using complex grammatical structures.
